The 24 hour number on the inner ring corresponds to the current hour in the cities listed on the outer chapter ring.

For example. At 9:21 in the video It's 10pm local time on the normal dial. And the inner dial lines up 22 with Los Angeles on the outer dial. It also lines up 6 with London (which is usually true except right now where our daylight savings time has changed and theirs hasn't).

Lol it’s almost exactly like a GMT showing all time zones not just one GMT hand. The hour hand typically jumps on world timers. Let’s say you’re in NY and it’s 12 noon, but your watch has NY at 10am. Jump your hour hand backwards to 10AM, then hack the minutes forward 2 hours. The Worldtimer is “pegged” to the minute hand. Now you can see what time it is in every time zone.

Another really good well written video. You’re right, it’s not always easy to read and I tried reading it in the dark with the lume and it’s a problem but it does what I want it to do and is just a bit more unusual from a boring old GMT. The daylight savings issue? At least that’ll be resolved by 3/31.

I agree that legibility is an issue with some analogue watches for some complications (this one for example). Maybe it's just because I'm old enough to have learned to tell time on analogue clocks before digital but I still find my brain processes the time more quickly with a quick glance at a good clear analogue dial. So Gshocks and Garmins are not my ultimate tool watches. If the job is telling time.

This Farer hits all the design ques very well, but I am still partial to the Fredrique Constant Worldtimer. However, every time I think about buying a Worldtimer, I say "hey, you have a Casio AW-1200 Worldtimer which does this so much better". And I buy something completely different or save my money.

i just found this video and realized they massively improved the visibility on the Markham with the Markham II. the minute hand, hour hand, and minute track are all now blued and much more visible compared to the first version. Not to mention the hand shapes and date window have all been rounded to give it a more modern feel

It's worth mentioning I guess that this is a modified *caller* GMT movement, meaning the 24-hour ring jumps in hour increments and not the local hour hand. Whether or not that still counts as being a "true" worldtimer is in the eye of the beholder, but I would've been beyond shocked if this had a jumping local hour hand at this price point

It's stationary. Once aligned with the 24-hour disc, it stays still whilst the 24-hour scale rotates and displays the correct time for the cities.
