The more rare a duty is in the random roulettes, the more likely it is that no one quite knows for sure how the fight goes... And the more likely it is that a lot of players spend the majority of the fight on the floor! As a DPS, I work my way through 13 Mentor Roulettes!

Bees sucked in XI too, arguably more so than in this game. Final Sting did nearly instantaneous damage (not realistically stunnable like it generally is in XIV) that instead scaled with the bee's remaining HP and was pretty one shotty if they decided to use it at high HP, and they could also use/spam Pollen instead which was a significant heal that not only prolonged the fight but helped to bring Final Sting back into dangerous territory. The puny enemies in XI had a reputation for being among the most dangerous.

You are correct with your assumption of the tank in E4 spamming provoke! You can see the VFX happening every 30 seconds (so every time it was up) from 89:54 onwards in your duty timer. Since it's easy to tell they knew what they were doing, my guess is they were extremely bored from the mogtome grind and took it as a little challenge just to see if they could keep aggro througout the fight without stance. I know I've done similar things in the past out of boredom as well (start with stance, then turn it off after the opener and see how long it takes for someone to even come close in aggro).

Remember that, as a caster, you also have sleep available in cases where the tank goes down to big pulls! While the quasi ranged dps summoner can kite enemies to a degree, a red or black mage can use their respective instant cast mechanics to at least attempt to reduce the number of now rabid mobs hitting other players while the healer is busy ressing the tank. The caster sleep is aoe and lasts for a very long time. I have definitely prevented a wipe or two thanks to the snooze button.

I've definitely found that endgame stuff is taking a bit longer recently (don't even ask me about the 50m Thaleia runs). I didn't know that endsinger had been tightened, that's great! I definitely respect the dancer/healer owning up to mistakes, though I'd caution against saying 'my bad' if you don't actually know what went wrong, I've seen enough high end content delayed by half an hour after we *though* someone knew what mistake they were making, only to forcefully probe after a while to realise that they didn't actually know something very basic which was killing them. I don't know if they just thought they were really bad at the execution but especially in higher end I'd appreciate more 'I don't actually know what killed me there, did anyone see?' That is so many mechanics in Kugane Ohashi that I'd never seen!

Still, it's better someone owns up to it than just silently do nothing! 😁 Indeed, they added a max ilvl sync to endsinger which allows the fight to actually play out! 😁 Come to think of it, I don't think I've seen that many repeats of mechanics on Greg before either!

I've had a similar run to your Yojimbo fight in Eden Ramuh (E5 I think) - we had most or all of a full party running it on voice comms together and we told our friend who's first time it was to hit DPS LB, then shortly after that we have a near-wipe. We managed to recover from it, but with lots of deaths our damage was low, so we built up another LB3. Cue the immortal words "It's probably safe to LB this time" followed by another 5 people dying immediately afterwards. One of the funniest duties I've ever run honestly

The bees in Qarn frequently kill someone whenever I'm in there. Also, it's a bit of a gamble if the group knows to focus the gem against the second boss. Same for removing doom against the first boss and ignoring the staves (those are staves, right) against the third boss. I'm not sure I'd hard cast rez someone as DPS. Depends on the situation as a whole, I suppose. If we don't need the healer right away or if there's another healer/rezzer, I might wait for Swiftcast instead or possibly let someone else do it. Kugane Ohashi reminded me of a P10 run I had yesterday. Both healers went down, we had no rezzers, I tried being a healer with Clemency. Everyone died, then it was just the other tank and me because tanks just live. We tried to duo clear it from 30%. But I spent my invuln earlier when it didn't look like the OT wouldn't stack with me for the Akh Morn tank buster only to see them stack with me at the last moment. So we died to a regular stack marker later in the fight as I couldn't invuln it and everyone else stacked with the floor instead of us. Next time, we cleared without issue. I queued again as I needed it for WT. 3 first timers. I tanked this one as well. The other tank had 20k HP less than me, so it was no contest. Akh Morn TB happens. OT stacks properly, but doesn't mitigate at all and dies. We don't wipe, but the healers had to hard carry this run. So many deaths. I find these runs more interesting than runs where nothing special happens.

Having done various lower level and/or older content lately, I've definitely noticed that the removal of random frontal cleaves is a sort of under the radar change that has massively impacted the difficulty of the game. And not just in trials/raids but even for random trash mobs. I've seen so many cases of tanks just aiming cleaves at the party or DPS/Healers standing where they would regularly be safe in a more recent duty getting sniped by a cleave. Personally, I'm not someone who at all bemoans that the game is "easier" than it used to be (and I particularly do not like unclear mechanics that you may not even be able to figure out after getting hit by them) but I wouldn't mind seeing more of the cleaves return. Just give them an orange AOE indicator of the flash style that shows you where the attack hits but generally too quickly for you to get out of it in time.

I'm honestly curious how you can level an Astrologian for at least 40 levels, not realise you need to deal damage and then decide to use it in a dungeon. I know you get Gravity at a decently late point in ARR, but not even single target attacks? Kinda makes me wonder whether they had done their job quests as those do require you to deal damage. Also, I recently did Aetherfont on New Game+ with Duty Support and had forgotten that the second boss has an "AoE beneath each player attack". Seeing bad tanks annoys me so much. I want to play DPS but am forced to play tank since there's so many bad ones who don't listen. It's annoying.

I really appreciate spoiler warnings! I started playing recently and it's a fight to not be accidentally spoiled as I work through the MSQ for the first time.

I finished Endwalker a few weeks ago, so it would have been new to me. Though I honestly wouldn't have been "spoiled".
