The Antikithera mecanism is a real artifact, found in the Mediterranean sea early 20th century, close to the city of Antikithera, hence its name. It's a 2 thousands+ years old analog computer designed to calculate moon phases, eclipses and known planets positions. Have fun everyone 🖖

Thanks for the video and well done! A piece of feedback however - I wasn't expecting a tutorial and walkthrough on how to play the game. A first look in my mind is someone's first time looking at a game and it's obviously not your first time. In any case keep up the good videos :)

It reminds me of Endless Sky on Steam. Endless Sky is a 2d game with an economy and a few hints as to what the end game is. It is fun and free on Steam!!!!!

"Neutronium" is a hypothetical material made of nothing but neutrons, like what we believe neutron stars are. Used in all sorts of sci fi, and likely completely impractical as a hull material (it would be so dense that even a ship-sized volume have it's own crushing gravity field, most likely.)
@FunkThompsonАй бұрын
And the Antikythera thing is a real device they found in an ancient greek shipwreck, eventually figured out it was a mechanical calendar that would show the positions of the moon and known planets or some such.

How can you tell that only the last one has been promoted? I go back and forth and see no difference. What I see is that the points you have can be freely spent on everyone in the crew. Nice game by the way!

Had a question. First off, this game ticks so many boxes and I'd be very keen to pick this up. Is the game procedurally generated? Or are all the planets and events static in line with the story? Excited to watch this series
@CharliePryorАй бұрын
Pretty sure things are not procedural, or at the very least, not the starting areas (as they are the same with each start I’ve done in the past so far.

I don't get it, we spend thousands on all the new technology that's available these days, and the games market is totally flooded with stuff that looks like stuff we played twenty five years ago.
@CharliePryorАй бұрын
Indie devs don’t have the resources for huge realistic 3d visuals. They excel by having sharp, polished visuals that they can do, but putting immense time and effort into the gameplay mechanics and stories that can be experienced from them. Some of the best story generation games ever made are games just like this. Rimworld, for example, is the gold standard in gameplay and replayability when it comes to telling a survival story. There are games like Oxygen Not Included, with really intricate systems that all work together with significant depth, but it’s 2d. Don’t immediately dismiss a game on looks. I think you’ll find that lots of really beautifully stunning games lack deep gameplay that can sustain most people, while some incredible experiences are possible with games that look like this. It’s all about budget, and prioritization.
@igorshchiglik1331Ай бұрын
@jontaylor1652 it's deceptive. This game I've been playing for over a year and it looks amazing. Games from the era you describe wish they looked a fraction as good as this game. And talk about how smoothly it runs. Ubisoft could take a few lessons.
@blsteen1831Ай бұрын
Plus It’s retro so it must be cool😂
@atheist101Ай бұрын
It's not all about graphics. The game play and story is what matters. Don't get me wrong I enjoy beautiful games but so many suffer because the spend so much time and money on making it look good. That makes game play and story suffer. Many of these indie games using older graphics (many making it basically art) focus instead on engaging well made mechanics and deep story.
@jimmycarpenter6612Ай бұрын
@@jontaylor1652 I mean saying this game or others like it look like what we played over 2 decades ago is just disingenuous to begin with. But graphics are also one of the LEAST important things in a game anyway. I'd rather play a game that actually does look 25 years old but is fun than an overly beautified game that's less than 10 hours long and feels more like a long movie than an actual game.

Games are getting worse, this is an 8 bit copy of so many old games, no originality. I'd get it if they sold the digital copies for $5 or less.

I was really interested in this game and maybe even trying out the previous one in the series first. I read a negative review that said the game had level scaling. So that guy at 1:00:35 will be even tougher later on if that information is accurate. I wonder if that means the ship will look bulkier than it does now or if the negative review was just wrong.
