I’d forgotten just how much you’d done this year, Jody. What a brilliant idea to do a recap, with links to each video; I’m sure I’ll be coming back to it when I half remember something I want to chase up nd I’m sure you covered it in 2024. And to anyone sitting on the fence about joining WelderSkills: grab an annual subscription; it’ll be the most rewarding investment in yourself you’ll ever make.

Learned to weld from your videos over a decade ago and still loving it. I keep coming back every time another DIY project pops up and I want a refresher. The TIG finger has kept my hand from getting toasted all these years. Love your work, thanks for all the videos!

Hey Jody, thanks ! I started watching your videos in the mid 2000’s, welding has taken me all over the place with the boiler makers. I hung up my helmet 8 years ago when I became a dad. I’ve now started welded at home again with the dream of building another boat. My boys are of the age they want to melt medal and do black smithing. I know many others are on the tube doing videos but I just wanna say thank you, early on your tips and tricks truly helped me.

Topic I'd like to see: Techniques or minimizing warping or distortion on thin weldments. Tacking and welding sequences, pulse settings, back-stepping, whatever you can draw from your experience. I was really impressed by the video where you attached a laser to a tube and welded it to another while showing how it pulled. Thanks or all you do-just got my latest order from the Weldmonger store!

Have picked up a bunch of good info off your you tube channel over the years. Has helped me with a lot of projects. Just signed up for a year of the skills videos. I’m trying to improve my tig game on really thin stainless as I’d like to make a couple of tanks for our maple sap and maybe a new canner for our finished syrup. I’ve seen some of your tricks using backing and purge. For a big tank made out of 22 gauge 304 would using something like foil and tape over the back side of welds work? Not economical to fill the whole say 300 gal of volume with argon and too large to use backing…

I’m thinking of sort of a dam with tape and foil and running a hose to maybe something like a piece of soft copper with holes for a diffuser under the foil…

I’m just starting out and want to concentrate on tube to tube tig welding, are you able to do a quick video on how to get a good start up weld going ? I’m running a 10 jazzy cup on 3mm ally with 2.4 tungsten and filler , but also want to be able to do it on 1.6mm tube as well as I want to make affordable aluminium wheelchair frames as I’m in a wheelchair myself , thank you and love your vids
