*Psalm: Holocaust* The genocide of Jews by Nazi Germany during the Second World War. O Lord of Hosts, hear the lament of Your people, For the ashes of Your children still cry out from the earth. The innocent were led like lambs to the slaughter, And their silenced voices echo in Your eternity. Where were the eyes of men, O God, When the flames consumed lives? The blood of the righteous flowed through the streets, And the world turned its face away from injustice. You are the God who saw the suffering in Egypt, The One who heard the cry of Israel under oppression. Why, then, did You permit such pain? Why did the enemy exalt himself over Your chosen ones? Yet even so, Lord, we will not cease to seek You. For You are the Judge of all the earth, And Your justice is perfect, though mysterious. You see what men do not see, And You hold in Your heart every tear shed. Arise, O God, and bring justice to past generations. Do not let oblivion erase the testimony of horror, So that wickedness may never again triumph like this. Teach the nations the truth of Your law, That Your light may shine upon the darkness of men. Remember Your children who perished amid the smoke; May their souls find rest in Your eternal arms. And grant to us, who still walk this earth, The courage to fight for life, for justice, for peace. O Lord, restore Your people, as You promised to Abraham. Make hope blossom among the dry bones, So that, even from the ashes, life may flourish. And let all the earth know that You are the God of Israel, The God who turns mourning into dancing, And death into eternal triumph.
