I didn't know about this trail. I hope you continue to do more videos on trails in and close to Sacramento and in the Bay Area and Nor Cal. I want do this trail, and learn about more trails. It's a great service. Thank you.

Hi Sylvia! I saw you were in the area and just watched your video on the American River bike trail and Laid Back. The rain has kept us off the trails these last few weeks. You must be dodging the storms!

Thanks for the detailed directions. I'll be up there with a friend in the Fall on a recumbent bike, and this video will help out in not getting lost along the way. Question: What is the bluegrass song called you chose for this video?

Thanks for watching! I don't know what the song is called. It came with the software I was using to edit the video. :) Sorry I couldn't help!

I'm not a biker, but I like taking out my electric scooter with my buddy to different bike trails around Sacramento. This bike trail looks really good compared to other trails I have ridden so far.

Thanks very much, LaSan! We’ll try and shoot as many trail videos as possible. Likely the next up will be the Niles Canyon Trail down in the San Francisco Bay Area where Charlie Chaplin shot his early films with Essanay Studios.

What a beautiful ride and video. The narration and music were fabulous and educational. Your content was super. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to your future postings. I saw in other comments that you have some camera stabilization on the way. It is all a learning process. I ride on Cape Cod on many similar trails and we always search out the clam shacks, lobster roll places and homemade ice cream as a reward. Stay well and keep riding.

Thanks very much for the kind words, Mark! I'd love to be able to ride on Cape Cod! Talk about your beautiful scenery! Yeah, I'm pretty sure the food stops are the best part of the ride. :) Good riding!

Absolutely the most gorgeous weather here now. Autumn is coming. 50’s at night and 70’s during the day. The best riding weather ever. Check out some of my videos from last fall while riding through the cranberry bogs and after the leaves turned. Keep posting!

You're killing me! It's 110 degrees here and there's so much smoke in the air from wildfires that you can't even ride without breathing in ashes. I'm definitely on the wrong coast. :) I'll go check out your videos now!

Bikes, Trikes & Razors! 70’s and sunny here. Perfect fall weather. Triking and golf and great seafood. Life is good. I stay here until December then bring the same game plan to Florida for the winter.

Checking out what recumbents are all about and found your channel. Enjoyed the ride along and food tips. Would have enjoyed at least a section of ambient sound: nature, wind, tires, chain, gear changing, huffing and puffing up a grade. Surprised not another soul was on such a great trail!
@bikestrikesrazors2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yep, with that camera, with any kind of movement you just get this horrible sound caused by the wind passing over the camera mic. We just purchased a small Osmo camera that allows us to get some of that ambient sound. That day was during one of the bad California wildfires, so most smart folks were indoors. :)

Just subscribed. Nice vid, commentary and music mix. My ride is the superb ICE SprintX, 700c rear wheel, full suspension which is worth the weight when crossing those wooden bridges etc. Also nice that it folds to go in the back of the Sub Outback. Just converted to tubeless tires. Yes, sounds silly to not care about adding weight of suspension, then reducing a few grams off wheels. I love how well they seal holes instantly as there are many thorns on Utah trail rides. Last week had one in each of three tires. All fell out without flatting. I’m wondering if the area shown is still on fire. I do feel a road trip coming on.
@bikestrikesrazors4 жыл бұрын
Hey, Mark! Good news! The fires are almost out and it hasn't been smoky for a couple of weeks, so we're back to good riding conditions. The Sprint X is indeed a beautiful trike! The only reason I was able to pick up my VTX used for a good price is because the original owner traded it in for a Sprint X with full suspension! :) I've been thinking of going over to tubeless with sealant also, as the goat head thorns here are out of control. I keep changing my cycling routes to avoid thorn areas, but I'm running out of "thornless" places to ride. :) This has been a very bad year for the little buggers. I shot a video about them a few years back: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnacZp-urr-efdk
@markrobinson8914 жыл бұрын
@@bikestrikesrazors I had been using sealant in the tubes for a couple of years prior to going tubeless. The new tires are a challenge to set up at the beginning. Air compressor with presta hose end was the final answer. I love them now. Good to hear the news on fires.

So if I followed the narration, it was Mo Flat to Placerville, then from Mo Flat and to El Dorado. Then from Placerville to Motor City. It looks like the trail turns to dirt before it gets to Camino? At Las Trampas?
@bikestrikesrazors4 жыл бұрын
Yep, that's all correct. It does eventually turn to dirt, but It goes a good distance paved after the freeway overpass. They did add more pavement to the trail towards Camino. I'm not sure exactly where I was when the pavement ended. I'll be checking that out in the near future to see what the trail is like past the paved section.

hey great video! Do you hold the camera with your hands or is it somehow attached to the frame?
@bikestrikesrazors3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I'm holding the camera with my hands. It's not too hard on a trike :) After this video, I bought a gimble to smooth out the video. It added a few extra pounds, so it's a bit harder now to hand hold everything.
@trabiccolopirata56263 жыл бұрын
@@bikestrikesrazors thanks! I'm trying to find a solution so I don't have to always hold it with my hands..especially for long rides on when I'm on trafficked roads..I'm also considering buying a gimble for it..

@@trabiccolopirata5626 Depending on what camera you're using, mounts can usually be found. Some cameras are pretty stable while riding, but the one I'm using really needed a gimble.

@@bikestrikesrazors Cool. A friend and his wife who ride their trikes with us down here are up there for the week and are riding the trail there at the American River near you I believe. Would be fun if you all could connect. They are not likely the speediest riders but can do a good job on the trail. if You want I can try to get you all connected to ride together.

Hey, Glenn! Normally I'd jump at the chance to show out-of-towners around the American River Trail. It's a beautiful trail, and it's where I've spent most of my pre-Covid riding years/weeks/days/hours. But, since the Covid thing hit, we've been so freaked out that we haven't gone near the (crowded) trail and we've be riding up in the empty (steep) roads of the foothills. I've been dying to do a five part video series on the ARC, but haven't been willing to go down there yet. Just got my first vaccine last Saturday, so a month from now, after I get my second, and wait two weeks after that, I MAY be brave enough to go down and ride among the normal, not so freaked out, folks. :) Check out my Strava (Joe Giannone) and you'll see a direct correlation to almost every ride that was pre-Covid being down on the trail, and every ride that's post Covid being up in the hills. I'll be back down there again someday! :)

Lucky-one shot! My arm's still hurting and I have to get another. They didn't give us a choice up here- Just the Moderna. When this Covid thing is a distant memory, we usually take a couple of trips a year down to your area, so we'll see if we can join up with one of your Trike Squadron rides. :)
