A refuge in the mountains: the warmth of the fire and the taste of forest oaks

Arsalan and the children worked hard to push aside the stone blocks and broken pieces of wood to find a flat place to spread their blankets. Arsalan immediately lit a fire to make tea. Khadija also carefully and quickly washed and prepared the tea utensils. While the water boiled on the fire, Amir Mohammad and Khadija began collecting acorns from the surrounding trees. They gathered a handful of acorns and placed them on the fire to cook. The pleasant smell of cooked acorns filled the cold mountain air, and the hot tea and warm acorns took away their fatigue and hunger and brought them moments of peace.
