If you fish in the river like that, use a rig with a heavy weight on the bottom of the line and a hook with a worm that is tied 3 or so feet above the weights.

We lived in Alpena for 10 years while I was in the military and loved it. We really miss the people, small-town vibe and beautiful settings surrounding this gem. Thanks for sharing your visit and bringing back some great memories!

Great content this week! Alpena and the area all the way down to Roger's City is great. Loved seeing the Faygo and Bettermaid chips, especially the Rock & Rye. We live in Minnesota now and miss Michigan a lot. Safe travels!!

My Dad and I went camping in our tent at Houghton Lake State Park in the summer of 1975 and it rained for 3 days straight. Dad suggested we pack up and head to Alpena for the evening to get a good meal at a restaurant and stay in a nice hotel. One of the best ideas he ever had! We went to Alpena and had a great time and saw the movie "The Longest Yard" with starring Burt Reynolds - it was hilarious!

Love Alpena ❤️ Awesome place . In 2015, I met You tubers Jamie & Jessica Hatch from Gone to the snowdogs , and they had a restaurant named Take 5 Deli . They live in Alpena. Awesome Town & So beautiful. Love your drone footage & photography . I used to live in Belleville, Michigan, a small town that hosts the Strawberry Festival 🍓.
