So glad im single with no kids, was in a 13year relationship and brought up twin girls from ages 2-15, our relationship ended and she stopped me seeing the twns, it hurt for a very long time i drank for 2 years straight, but im happy and over it now, i never want to live up to someone elses expectations ever again, one day she actually said to me, "You're not doing what i want you to do". Being single, going gym and playing my ps5 makes me happy, i have great friends and family too, and im off the alcohol which has made everything fall into place, im not waking up anymore filled with sorrows and anxiety, ..life is good plus im saving £1000s which i would have spent on the demon drink, great video Jim ❤❤😊😊

Living a life with a purpose is what makes life worth living, but being single never married and no kids doesn't mean we live a life without a purpose. I am also single, never married and no kids and there was one point in my life that I questioned myself if I lived a life with no purpose. I felt empty and broken and felt so alone and then came anxiety and depression. I got sick and battled my illness for 4 years. I was so sick for 4 years it was then that I saw things that answered my question if I've lived a wrong life and have lived my life without a purpose. When I got sick and very weak I realized I wasn't alone at all. I realized I was surrounded with love. I was surrounded with people who truly cares, people who's lives I touched through the years by giving a little and sharing a little of what I have but I didn't know it until I got sick. They are my aunts and uncles from both mother and father side, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends and my sister my only sibling. They all showed me love and took care of me helped me in my battle and kept telling me I wasn't alone and they loved me. And one situation that I really moved me was when one of my nieces who graduated from college last year came to me and said aunty I want you to be my escort on my Baccalaureate dinner and ring hop ceremony since my mother is not here shes working abroad and she cant come home for my graduation. I asked her why me? She said "because you are with me and my siblings all these years when we need parental love and guidance and words of wisdom that which our parents couldn't give us because my mother is so far away working and my father died so early". I was so touched by her words and I realized that I have nothing to regret about my life at all. I have lived with my purpose without realizing it until later. its not because we are single and never have children that give us sense of purpose it is through little things that we do showing love and compassion that give lives meaning and a purpose.

Many years ago, when I was married, I remember vividly feeling, "This is not my life. This is someone else's life." It's one reason I got out. When I say "someone else's life," I mean the life of a normal, average, conventional guy who goes to work, does the family thing, and that's about it. That's not me. That's never been me. Don't get me wrong - I'm glad there are normal, average, traditional guys like that out there; society depends on them. Marriage is for a good fit for some men, but it clearly wasn't for me. I felt like my soul was dying (hard to convey in a YT comment), and I had to get out. What a relief when I did. I could get back to living my own life, not someone else's. It's not a great or spectacular life - I have problems and ups & downs like anyone else - but at least it's my own.

I suspected your location was Northern Ohio or Michigan based on the tree species and landscape in the cemetery video. The angle of the sun in this video confirmed it, before you said it. I lived in Cleveland and Toledo, then Michigan, before moving to Florida. Liked the people in those states. Hardworking, optimistic, thoughtful, modest, and easy to get along with. The Midwest is a great place to be. So many have moved to Florida, that parts of the state have taken on that character. Also knew a couple people who moved from Florida back to their hometowns in NW Michigan, liking it better there, even with six months of winter. I just subscribed to your channel.

It's becoming more and more common to think about life the way you describe in this video. However, I would like to consider that this seems to be a very intellectual way of thinking that could lead to the trap of constantly tracking and evaluating life - similar to chasing the joy that we know always slips away when we chase it. Thanku Jim. Congrats on your success with your channel, very awesome. I was very taken by Steve Jobs speech l listened sometime ago. Personally l think if you really really lived life as your last day you would be in a space of gratitude, in surrender and flow. If wise you would surrender all judgments of others and life itself añ just allow life to be. You would open your heart wide open and be fearless viewing life as an extreme gift. Good thing ýou don't have to be on deaths door to try this or practice this every day. The only regret l have is that l feared rather then loved. Be that myself or others.

Thanks for the reminder. When you began, I immediately thought of the #1 regret of the dying as identified by Bonnie Ware, so I was pleased you mentioned it. The stoics talked about this too ("memento mori" - i.e., remember death). I would add one thing: your conception of what happens *after* death can change the experience of reflecting on your death quite a bit. If you think death is the end, then thinking about death can, for some people, create not just a spur to live a richer life now, but a sense of pressure, gloom and anxiety about the inevitable end and the nothingness that follows. If you believe in an afterlife, like me, it's not so grim. Further, if you believe in reincarnation, then it doesn't feel like a pressure cooker where you have to get everything done this one time around. So, our beliefs about what come after death shape our experience of it.
