I feel like the olive branch I extended to you in my last comment has been ignored or discarded. 😭 Perhaps you don’t consider me one of these fantasy BookTubers. 🤔

Hah! I very much appreciated that olive branch! But I want the whole TRIBE to embrace me!

@@saintdonoghue haha! I just had to remind myself that there isn’t just one big corner/tribe of fantasy BookTube; there are tons of fantasy BookTube corners that you and I have probably never heard of. I do read other genres. I just reviewed East of Eden and my favorite book of 2022 was Stoner by John Williams, if that tells you anything. 😅

Also, I am so interested in this xenophobia you mention. I would hope I have never came across like this. And also, not all of us only read fantasy 😀

Also because some of them edit out the "uhms" and "likes" and look wide eyed, non stop smiling, into the camera they look as if they were high on cocaine, and it's really jarring. Especially when they are recommeding a bad book so thoroughly, then you must think they're actually high!

I support indie publishing and like the idea of fantasy, or maybe I like fantasy as an idea, but in practicality I haven't been able to pick that lock. I keep trying but keep abutting against the - here's the word for the day - philosophy of a genre where all is possible and allowed. The LOTR movies were fine, I suppose, but I kept waiting for Jed Bartlet to show up and make logical sense out of something, quipily telling Frodo to get over himself and just get on with it. Though many have argued that _The West Wing_ is itself fantasy, at least I recognize Pennsylvania Ave.

I've run into people like this but only online. It's never made any sense to me why you would run a perfectly good story for yourself instead of just reading it. Some people are just lazy.

You are an edge-stepper of Fantasy booktube? Is your nickname Grendel? Booktube is an interesting beast with how other people interact with different parts of the group. Nice video, this falls on the reader but we all gotta learn patience somehow.

NO - I belong to those readers who read the Ending of the Books, and that does not make me a bad Reader just a different one. I don't read Stories to be surprised, but to be transported. Also I cannot enjoy Thrillers, which keep you on the razor Edge of Suspence, still I am not a bad Reader just someone reading for other Goals. Just because I want to be transported to another World or another Life or what not, does not mean I have to appreciate to be startled by Twists and Turns of a Plot. You could not spoil anything for me neither Book nor Movie by telling me what is going to happen. As for the Author , if I am cynical, she should be happy, I bought it , no Matter how I consume it. and if I am happy, I will reread it a hundred Times, something Readers who only read because of the Suspence probably would not do. Oh - and perhaps delivering some Vaccine might give you the Introduction to the Fantasy Group, they should be thankful if you saved them if not from Polio perhaps from the Virus of Impatience

People should be patient, but they’re never going to be. I’m not surprised. I blame smart phones. All this instant information at the touch of a finger. It creates a behavior that effects other aspects of your life. I’d like to add, there’s a sci-fi version of KZbinrs as well. Quinn’s Ideas, Comic Book Girl 19, and Nerd Cookies are a few I like.

Firstly dropping The Girdle of Melian in there is the most fantasy nerd flex of the day 🫡 Secondly; an ambassador to fantasy booktube 🤔 you’d be the North Korean equivalent 😅
