the song is really special for the boys because it’s actually their first song that topped 1 on all music platform the day of its release. also they show this song on their fan sign event before the actual release and as the title itself they wanted to thank carats.

the sign you were pointing at is actually a promise sign. all svt members wears a ring on their pinky finger, so basically betting/promising with their ring. the “unfolding “ or the move when they tap their shoulder down to their forearm, is the korean sign language for thank you. also they form THX while doing the tap tap tap hehe

14:34 that's is the language sign for "thank you". And the move that you mention and you think that's a language sign, yes that's is the language sign for "promise", they do the pinky promise move. And in the Pretty U choreography when they touch the cheek (jeonghan' part), that's the language sign for "pretty". CMIIW 💙💙

For me, Thanks is the Ultimate song. Its feel timeless even though it has EDM touch in it. The dance, no doubt since it is Seventeen. And I'm agree with you, they're the best synchronized group since the beginning together with Gfriend. Seventeen and their choreographer always know how to use their numbers to be their advantage to make a show on the stage.

What makes this song special is that it shows a lot of sign language through their formations (THX) and hand gestures (pinky promise) expressing how thankful they are especially to CARATs🥕 The number of times they said "Thanks" is the sweetest.. 14:32 the thing that they are doing with their arm is actually a sign to say "thanks / thank you" while their formation spelled T-H-X (thanks). basically, (in a face to face performance) fans who are near them are the only ones who can only see the sign with the arm while people at the back or at a higher seat cannot. hence, the formation. it is a message that it doesn't matter whether you're near or far from them, they are thankful still.

Actually in this part 9:20 they do the letters ( T,H,X ) and arm movement means “ thank you ” in sing language. Any movement in this dance has a meaning.

The choreography in the MV is different as you can see, at least the beginning of the first chorus. They decided to change it because it was too intense or saiyajin-like.
