Christopher, love your voice! The twist-n-turn 1970s is my favorite Barbie. Love her face too. I had the 1978 Ballerina Barbie and Malibu Barbie as a child. As an adult, I bought another Ballerina Barbie from eBay. The doll is mint but the box is not. Just love her.

My favorite decade! I have so many from the 70's because I collected (got them for gifts) up until 1976, although I was what may have been considered too old for dolls. I didn't collect again until about '86 a few are new for the time until about '96 - then I went back to my first loves the mods including '58 to '76. Christopher I love hearing you describe the dolls - including Chernobyl Barbie LOL 🤣 I remember as a kid going into the toy store with my jaw open and eyes wide because I wanted everything in the Barbie section. There was a typical Barbie smell (collectors will know) to that section which I will never forget. I am soon to be 61 and I still dream about that toy store and the Barbie section. Thanks for sharing!

My very first Barbies were ones from the mid- to late 70s, Ballerina and Malibu Barbie for sure. Let's not forget Sun Lovin' Barbie and SKipper, with those ridiculous tan lines! However, My favorite 70s facemold has to be new, "good lookin' Ken" his face SCREAMS 1970s to me!

Excellent, once again ❤... Never too abstract!... Loved watching & listening while redressing my latest obsession, Blythe 😂... I had Superstar Barbie as a kid. I, of course, purchased her reproduction. Unfortunately my original is long gone, but I do still have my childhood Ideal Velvet doll. Another Icon of the 60's/70's Crissy & Velvet 💖❤ I could listen to Christopher chat on about dolls for hours 😂👍🏻❤

Christopher, I also use "Barbiedom" as my sleeping pill...it's a great way to just calm down and be soothed after a hectic day! Which often means KZbin videos like this one! So...I grew up in the 70's. You're right that 70's Barbie was about "doing", partly because during that era there was such an emphasis on outdoor fitness and sports like tennis, jogging and "beach" - (fitness moved indoors in the 80's with everyone going to gyms and aerobics classes.) And we slathered on the Coppertone and Swedish Tanning Butter - so of course Malibu Barbie reflected that sun worship aesthetic. (It's a wonder any of survived!) Also, I've read several references that the Superstar face mold was inspired by Farrah Fawcett, which makes perfect sense to me - she was THE icon of the era and a living Barbie herself. As a boy, I couldn't have my own Barbies, but my sister had a Malibu Barbie and a Ballerina Barbie - which, of course, I coveted. You can be sure that they are well represented in my collection today! Thanks for a such a fun presentation!

Superstar Barbie is my absolute favorite from the 70’s. She is such a turning point and saved the brand. Her reign lasted 20 yrs Mattel just kept changing her outfit and hair. As for Malibu Barbie…when I discovered her online in the late 90s I couldn’t believe mattel thought that was a pretty face for Barbie… the outer corners of her eyes are just bizarre, instead of a beautiful almond shaped eye they went for a square-ish shape that makes no sense.
@KingOfGaymes
@KingOfGaymes 8 ай бұрын
Omg same, Malibu Barbie has such a weird face imo.. It makes me almost sad that such a strange face mold was what they used for the first looking forward barbie, she’s one of the most iconic barbie dolls and then she’s got a face like that 😭 But I’m so glad SuperStar came and changed barbie for the better! It doesn’t help that as a kid I had a Barbie book and the photo of Malibu Barbie wasn’t the original, so I always thought she was super pretty, when I saw the real face I was shocked 💀 I think the Barbie in my book was a sunsational or sun lovin barbie dressed as Malibu and that face mold is way prettier.. so in a way that book catfished me xD

Rachel, Like Christopher, I also LOVE anything antique and vintage🤗🤗!! And I actually still have Malibu Barbie that my Late Grandfather bought me. Not to insult my Late Grandfather and he meant well, but Malibu Barbie was not my favorite either. However, I thought that Malibu Ken was really handsome😍💙💙💙, but I never got him as a present😔😔. And I also had a Ballerina Barbie Doll 🩰that my Late Grandfather gave me because I took Ballet lessons, but sadly she got lost😢😢😢 when I moved to my new Apartment in August. So, out of my limited 70s Barbies that I own, my personal favorite is my Kissing Barbie Doll and I still have her today😃😃💖💖💖💖💖!!! And out of Christopher's favorite Barbies, although I am not a fan of the Mod mold, I really LOVE Christopher's Growing Pretty Barbie💖💖 with her beautiful blonde hair💖💖💖 and pretty pink party dress💖💖 and I also LOVE the Dramatic living Barbie because I so LOVE her sweet face with her blonde hair💖💖💖, and I so LOVE Superstar Barbie💖💖💖💖💖!!! Thank you Christopher sharing your love for Barbie Dolls 💖💖💖💖💖and explaining all the cool details in each Doll💖💖!!! And Rachel, thank you for having these awesome Barbie Doll and Robert Tonner Doll videos💖💖💖💖💖!! I will have to catch up on the 2 other videos you posted this week over the weekend🤗🤗!!

I had that ballerina Barbie, her face is so sweet! Fun story, I bought a lot of modern 1/6 dolls from FaceBook marketplace. When I picked them up, there was an unexpected 70's Superstar Barbie in the lot. The seller pointed her out, noting how she could be fixed up. She seemed anxious to let me know she was special, it was really sweet

Yes, women really did wear all those hair extensions in the late 60's and 70's. As a teenager I had a hairpiece we called a "rat" that was pinned on top of upswept hair to ,make a kind of French bun, and you could buy all sorts of different hairpieces in the stores, even in places like Woolworth's!

Hi! It’s actually the opposite, but thanks for the thought. He doesn’t want ANY of his information shown except his Instagram. I get what you are saying but he’s very private. He worked for me for over a year before he would do any content. He doesn’t want his “flowers” via social media. He doesn’t want his info in my bio, and he doesn’t want a “following.” He asked me only to feature his Instagram, and he rarely posts. You’re correct; it is my channel, and most of my “personal” posts center around my family, as they always have. Many beloved employees and team members have left, and the channel has remained. Thank you for watching!

I have nine or ten examples of Dramatic New Living Barbie, I think she's the ideal model for all those sporting outfits of the early 70s. Any outfit that features flats, boots, or sneakers, it's a cinch that I have it on a DNLB. I have a hard time deciding which doll is my favorite from the 70s, and the 70s and 80s make up the bulk of my collection. 1974 Yellowstone Kelley, 1975 Quick Curl Cara, 1978 Fashion Photo P.J. and 1978 Fashion Photo Christie are probably the top contenders. At 23:17 Christopher is referring to a doll as "Golden Dream Christie", but the doll pictured is actually 1977 SuperStar Christie wearing a 1977 Get-Ups 'N Go fashion. Just a little errata for you. And Christopher was right about Ballerina Barbie being a 1976 doll. Whatever that book says, it's probably wrong. A lot of those books from that time period are filled with mistakes, I've found. Some of them are just absolute trash. If you consult the 'blue bible' Sybil De Wein/Joan Ashabraner book, or you refer to the original retailer catalogs from the time period (which is my preference) you get better info than the 90s 'collecting boom' books. The 1979 variation has the new eye screening (which always reminds me of the eye screening of Fashion Photo Christie). It wasn't necessarily the Ballerina Barbie On Tour, all of the Ballerina Barbie dolls from 1979 had this screening. I have 1976 Beautiful Bride Barbie, and...she's...not a favorite. I just think she looks stoned to me. 😆
