I have a special place in my heart for Raggedy Ann and Andy. In the 70's, my granny had never worked outside the home so to make money for social security. A state sponsored program where they had people to make things to put in stores across the state. My granny was asked to make Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. Of course she made me 2. I still have them. Nice Memories

Being a doll and bear person is a solitary interest here in Wales. I think I am the sole remaining member of the species! So, your videos and those of a few others, such as 'The Uncles' of Carmel Doll Shop, are a huge treat for me. It is great to see you back This has been a particularly exciting peek into the shop. LOVE the Cissy dolls. and the American Character in black and red, what a face! The Kathe Kruse doll you bought through Theriaults' from Jonathan's collection is a delight too. So glad you got her! I was very fond of Jonathan, miss him and treasure the little items I bought from him, the photo of him and little crocheted raggedies you sold in his memory.

It's so wonderful to hear that the videos serve as a source of connection and enjoyment for you, especially when being a doll and bear enthusiast feels like a solitary interest in your area. Jonathan was indeed a treasure in the doll community, and I'm glad to hear you have fond memories and keepsakes from him. Your attention to detail, like noting the Cissy dolls and the American Character in black and red, shows how passionate you are about the hobby. Thank you for being part of this global community of collectors and enthusiasts! 😊

I, also, have a special place in my heart for Jonathan Green. I bought 2 Edith Flack Ackley dolls from him - one from his VDC shop and one that he contacted me about directly (what a thrill!). When the Theriault's auction came up, I intended to buy another EFA doll, but Instead, won a Series 1 Kathe Kruse - Item 32 with a print smock and gold knee pants, along with one of the large bentwood boxes. Your Kathe Kruse doll is lovely, and isn't it a wonderful feeling to know that it came from a very special collection. Thanks for the video! It is always so lovely to hear what's going on at the shop.

Oh Rachel, I just love your videos. Thank you for sharing the transparent, behind-the-scenes of doll collecting as in; what things cost! I had only purchased dolls on eBay until a year ago when I took the plunge and did an online auction with Theriault's and was thrilled to win a doll. Why is it we love dolls so much? You help me feel 'normal' because I love them too. The way you look at your new purchases and fluff their clothes speaks to your love and enthusiasm for doll collecting. I am SO glad you got the Doll I from Jonathan's collection, she is so adorable.

I collected a lot of different dolls before I realized my heart was with Barbie, but I did had a lovely Shirley Temple. I liked her a lot but alas she was trade for Barbie clothes. I keep thinking I should of kept her. I loved Raggedy Ann because she was fun to wash her clothes and put them on the pretend ironing board - well just play house with her. I still have one. Rachel I just wanted to give you a hug when you talked of your parents. I cared for both my parents for just over 25 years so I know the efforts it takes to do that. Well I enjoyed your chat today. Have a great rest of the week.

I always have a tough time waiting until the end of the video to comment on how much I appreciate what you share and this one is no exception. By sharing your thoughts and feelings about your Mom, your family and daily work life your friends out in "KZbin Land" feel a sense of belonging and comradery. One of these days I'll have to travel back over the mountain to see your new beautiful Shirley Temples and get eye make up tips from you and Christopher. You both always look awesome! November is a great month for H.D.'s birthday. I was born on November 2 which is probably why Halloween was always my favorite holiday. And for the record....I LOVE candy corn...but only Brachs. Delightful to see your own youthful doll making skills too. Quite the professional crochet doll artist at such a young age. With regards to parenthood? I have four kids; two girls and two boys. My oldest is 31 and youngest 22. I have found every age to be wonderful though some more challenging as a parent than others. I am thrilled to have adult kids now and we continue to have awesome relationships. Hello and hugs to all! Thanks Rachel.

I've been a doll collector most of my life. As a child in England, I would save up my allowance and go to the village toy shop and buy dolls. At the time I liked the historical doll, Nesbit etc. Now in my older years, I have antique, artist, fashion, ooak, and any doll that I just have to have. I don't know if it's their faces, costumes or just nostalgia but they do give me pleasure. Some of my relations don't understand it and one said, "You're over compensating for lack of children." But as a creative person, I like to do costumes and repair dolls and bring them back to their former glory. It's fun! Audie

Oh, hello my dear friend! I always feel that we are connected, if only through the videos, due to our love of dolls and family and great people that we have encountered. I love the raggedy's too, always looking for the old ones. I do have 3 or 4 Georgenes that I have found in antique stores. I have SO many dolls that I will be downsizing a bit due to space, but there are some I could never part with! I have one Shirley Temple from the 30's, I think she's 18-20 inches. She was given to me by a dear friend I used to work with and the doll had belonged to her mother, I like your Grace collection and one day will get some. I think all the things you have going at the doll shop are incredible. It's like a magical world inside of a real world. Congratulations on your sweetie turning 2 soon! My grand daughters are 5 1/2 and 3, it's wonderful having little ones in your life! Always thinking of you all down there and keeping you in prayers. ♥

Rachel, I so LOVE those Raggedy Ann Dolls❤❤, Connie Tognoli Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy Mini Dolls, Cissy Dolls💖💖, American Character Doll💖💖 and Shirley Temple Dolls❤❤ the best💯💯💯💯💯💯💯!!! I so LOVE the Volland and the Georgene Dolls the best, but I never had either one of them, but my Late Dad bought me a Knickerbocker Raggedy Andy when I was 6 years old and I still have him❤❤❤❤❤!!! However, my Raggedy Andy is very well loved and in need of repair. I so LOVE your Georgene Doll asleep\awake Doll❤❤❤❤❤!!! And I so LOVE the artistry of Connie Tognoli's Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy Mini Dolls because they look traditional and just so cute🤗🤗❤❤❤❤❤!! And I so LOVE the 2nd Sissy Doll the best with the lace top and pink sash on her gown and I so LOVE her gloves too💖💖💖💖💖!!! And that American Character Doll with her black top, hot pink gown length skirt, and matching hot pink shawl with flowers in her hair💖💖💖💖💖!!! And although I LOVE both Shirley Temple Dolls, my favorite is the Shirley Temple Doll with the music note dress, despite that her eyes are clouded, she just speaks to me🤗🤗❤❤❤❤❤!!! And I so understand how you feel about the passing of Johnathan Green because he was so down to earth and so smart at the same time. He even liked my comments and I am not as educated as he, but he just seemed so nice. I so agree with you that, "Johnathan Green never made anyone feel small" and that is beautiful!!! And it is the one year anniversary since my Boyfriend's Niece who was kind, down to earth, and a very successful Veterinarian committed suicide, so I so feel how deeply sad it is🖤🌹. And from my personal experience with Alzheimer's Disease, my heart goes out to you as well🌹🌹. My Late Dad had Alzheimer's Disease and it was very hard to deal with and painful to see my Late Dad not know my name and wonder if my Mom was "his Mom or his wife". And my Late Grandfather on my Mom's side of the Family affectionately known as Pop-Pop also had Alzheimer's Disease🌹🌹, but he loved to collect things both as someone with Alzheimer's Disease and even when he was younger. My Late Grandfather "Pop-Pop" got me into Dolls because he bought me a lot of Dolls as presents when he was well before the Alzheimer's Disease 🤗🤗❤❤🌹🌹!! I would be writing a book if I went into how hard it was to see my Late Grandfather and my Late Dad suffer and decline with Alzheimer's Disease, but it is an awful Disease is an understatement and so hard on the Family. And I so agree that dealing with someone who has Alzheimer's prepares you for Motherhood because it takes a super amounts of patience. However, Rachel, I think your Mom was a really special🍫🧸 and kind person🌹🌺🌻🧸, so I think those qualities in her helped to make you a wonderful Mom💛💛💛💛💛, even more than the Alzheimer's Disease!!! Rachel, Thank you so much for sharing your story about Johnathan Green🌹🌹 💛💛and your Mom🧸🧸💛💛🌹🌹 and Thank you for sharing your beautiful Dolls!! And I also LOVE Johnathan Green's Katie Kruse Doll in this video too❤❤❤❤❤!!!

Always a pleasure to hear how your life is going...as you have said, we all go through life, good and bad and everything in between. FYI hour blonde Cissy is wearing a Revlon brocade Queen of Diamonds dress and petticoat in lovely condition. I enjoyed your tribute to Jonathan, and the lovely Shirley Temple dolls. I myself like the 1950s Ideal vinyl Shirleys, and and have a small collection of those, mostly the 12" size. My favorite dolls are the 1950s hard plastic and vinyl dolls (AC Toni with flirty eyes, original gown from about 1958). Gowned AC is also Toni in American Beauty gown.

I adore Raggedy Ann and Andy too.My childhood Raggedy Ann has been lost over the years. I still have Raggedy.Ann and the Golden Butterly from my 8th birthday. My daughter's and granddaughters have had these dolls also..Randy was 5 when I got him the Raggedy Andy storybook. My Raggedy.Ann and Andy were made by my mother when I was 8. I enjoyed this video so much. The last video of Holland Diane and her Grandfather was so cute..Mme. Alexander's are another favorite. I hope Grace gets eyeglasses. Stay well and safe.

So much I love and collect in this video. I bought a Sleep/wake with blue hair. I was so excited to have him. It was actually Jonathan that told me someone along the way added the blue yarn hair lol I still have him. A few years back on my bday my husband bought me the 27” Flirting Shirley mint in her box with the blue “triangle” dress. Thank you for making my day some happiness. You are much appreciated Rachel! ❤️

Dear Rachel I love your beautiful soul so much. I want to listen to you all day. My bridesmaid played the young Marcella in the Raggedy Ann movie. I did enquire what happened to the Raggedy Ann props without any luck ha!!! that sweet doll will always take a special place in any collection. I was at my mothers house a few weeks ago looking for my old Raggedy Ann I finely found her looking like a flat pancake in the case of things ,being squashed for 30 years yet she still was smiling at me !!!The Shirley dolls are splendid in such lovely condition I wonder could the eyes ever be change on them, If linda was there she would know . I miss seeing Uncle Stanley .and Linda who have taught me so much But yes life moves foreword and we have to climb on board and hold tight. and hopeful we grow and enjoy the roads we travel. along. Rachel your wonderful words of encouragement and your wisdom on life is utterly a blessing. Long may the turn of the century shop remain forever and forever. Sending my love and best wishes always and thank you for being you. Love Lind in cold London UK xxxx

Oh Lind, your message is a ray of sunshine! How amazing that your bridesmaid played young Marcella in the Raggedy Ann movie-that's a wonderful connection to have. I can just imagine the joy of finding your old Raggedy Ann still smiling back at you after all these years; that's the power of a well-loved doll. As for changing the eyes on the Shirley dolls, I'd definitely consult an expert like Linda for something that specific. Life is indeed a journey, and I'm so happy that we can travel it together through our shared love for dolls. Thank you for your warm wishes, and sending lots of love back to you from across the pond! Awww the little Kathe Kruse with the crocheted dress is so adorable! I watched Theriaults videos on Jonathan’s collection and I was a bit distressed with how they pronounced “Kathe Kruse” like “Kathy Cruise” and I remember Jonathan’s efforts to help folks pronounce her name correctly. Such a lovely video! A couple of months ago I finally pulled out the Raggedy Ann I made for my baby sister when she was 7 and I was 16 or so. I’ve been in a quite severe autoimmune/neurological flare so haven’t been well enough to get a picture of her. I’d love to send you a photo…she’s quite large and still in good shape…needs a little cleaning at her hair line on one side. This wonderful video and little Holland reminded me of how much fun Dirce and I had when I made the doll. I don’t know if I can add a photo to a comment. If not I’ll print it and mail it to you. Also, my dearest friend/informally adopted big brother of 40 years been diagnosed with terminal colon cancer and 3 weeks ago we had to euthanize our 9 year old Boxer, who had the canine version of ALS. If you have time I would appreciate prayers/good thoughts for me to hold it together, especially health wise. I won’t be able to see my friend Julius or be with him or help him as he makes this next journey as I am too disabled to travel. This is very, very hard. Until I became so sick, I always cared for family and friends, even neighbors, when they were severely sick or dying. I couldn’t go with our Boxer and I can’t be with my friend. I feel so bereft of purpose and use. I am so proud of Julius for the path he has taken in response to his diagnosis. He has approached it with a profound self reflection, while at the same time working with his caretakers to keep him physically comfortable. While he has bad moments, he sees this as a means to grow as a human being, both psychologically and spiritually. I hope I haven’t overstepped or burdened you. The wonderful essays/thoughts/reflections about you mother had a huge impact on me.

I'm touched to hear that my video reminded you of the joyful memories you and Dirce had with your handmade Raggedy Ann. Please do send a photo when you can; I'd love to see it. I'm so sorry you're going through such a challenging time. You have my thoughts and wishes for strength, especially in light of not being able to physically be there for Julius and your late Boxer. It's clear you're a compassionate, caring person, and even if you can't be there in person, your emotional support has immeasurable value. Julius sounds like an incredibly strong and introspective individual, approaching his diagnosis with grace. It's okay to share, and I'm grateful my reflections on my mom have made an impact on you. Thank you for being a supportive part of our community.

They are very special to me also some other dolls. One day I want to have 8 Germany dolls! I would pay 120 dollars for 8 Germany dolls. My mom wouldn’t be happy if I paid for anything when I am a kid lol But I would. I will take any doll except new dolls. I would take any doll for free if it is an antique doll. Ok I will take it lol

The first Cissy doll you showed, the loose stringed one, is really pretty. Is she for sale?

Ac Sweet Sue And Toni used the same mold. The fastest way to tell which is which is Toni's eyelashes are painted in the corners of her eyes and Sweet Sue's is painted on under her eyes.

Thanks for the tip! 😊 Sweet Sue and Toni using the same mold can be tricky, but the eyelash detail is a great way to differentiate them. Your knowledge of dolls is impressive, and it's always a pleasure to learn from fellow collectors like you! 👍🧡
