Hi Mary! This book is a must have with beauty, warmness and elegance that I hope resurfaces in the younger generations. The authors inspired me as they are younger and appreciate the beauty of Schumacher as well as other designers. I fondly remember subscribing to House Beautiful in the late 70’s and throughout the 80 and 90’s. I would treat these issues as gifts and read and looked over every page many times and loved the articles by Dee Hardie in Thornhill. This book reminds me so much of those years. Your table setting is beautiful and the rose napkin is something I will try and share with my granddaughter. Thank you Mary as I look forward to your next review!

Thank you- sharing things with your granddaughter is such a gift for you both. Grandmothers have an influence that mothers do not. I remember moments with my grandmother as dreamlike and treasure all her advice. I learned so much by just watching her. I was touched by the author's appreciation of her grandmother's style and hobbies. I agree with you, I hope attributes such as warm elegance and a love of tradition will not be lost.

I like the terracotta napkin the best. It ties in with the roses and the ribbon. Also, white placemats and white roses sitting on them don’t allow the roses to stand out! Beautiful beautiful tablescape!

Beautiful table decor. I like the terracotta with the gross ribbon on the chocolate box it continue the color decor..The dishes are beautiful ..I live one miles south and two miles from Biscayne National Park..beach bay. The dishes is reminder of our island Puerto Rico that is summer all year long..but sadly my Dad move to heaven in April 2023.The book has help me ..awesome review ..ruffles,bedskirts, table with beautiful materials.. ..... A book after my own Heart .... I adore skirted sofas, tables,...fringed as well.. Will be on the list as of this moment. The Tablescape / Setting is l o v e l y ... Normally, I prefer a White/ Ivory / Cream Napkin... however, when I saw the Terracotta Pink, it was a " wow" , just added that " something special ". It really brought the whole look of everything together.

Hello Mary, I loved, loved, loved, this book!!! It so reminded me of being a teenager and having a love for traditional design! I didn't have friends with the same interests as me however they could never change my mind. (LOL) Still till this day I love all of my traditional decor! Mary I so wish we were neighbors....we would have sooo much in common! Your table setting is just lovely and definitely the terra cotta pink napkin! So lovely! Hi Mary. This is my favorite book review and overall video by you. I loved everything! First,the book captures my style completely. I am about the same age as you and I was collecting china at 16 and decorating my home with floral, chintz, ruffles and skirts when everyone else thought it was out of style. I never cared! To me, it made a house a home. Warm, inviting and comfortable. I could surround myself with beautiful things without my home feeling like a museum. I will definitely be purchasing this lovely book. Also, your table looked so beautiful. I enjoyed learning how to fold a napkin into a rose as well as the little chocolate favors. Such wonderful touches! Thank you, I look forward to more videos.

Charm School - thanks for a great review! I treated myself to a copy when I was in Nashville for a wedding. As you probably know, Schumacher opened their first retail store there recently. And since I’m not a designer, it was my first opportunity to see “inside Schumacher”, so I bought it as a souvenir of a great weekend. I think my favorite chapter is Scallops. Terra cotta rose napkins. For the win!

As usual a very good book review, reminds me of comfortable English country estate homes also a bit of williamsburg influence with the chintz and toilet. I'm sure your recipies from the low country cookbook are delicious, I spent quite a few years in South Carolina when my husband was in the air force and loved the old low country houses with the wrap around porches. I like the colored napkins better as they bring out the pink/terracotta tones in the floral table arrangement and the lovely shell plates. Once again I enjoyed your video very much. The pink as it is the same colour of the scallop on the litlle plate and it goes better with the general decor. I always go for neutral tablecloth but this is lovely and unusual for me.
