The editors have delved into the archives and culled years of rich material covering a range of subjects. Ranging freely between present and past, the book features the personal spaces of dozens of private celebrities like Barack and Michelle Obama, David Bowie, Truman Capote, David Hockney, Michael Kors, and Diana Vreeland, and includes the work of top designers and architects like Frank Gehry, David Hicks, India Mahdavi, Peter Marino, John Fowler, Renzo Mongiardino, Oscar Niemeyer, Axel Vervoordt, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Elsie de Wolfe. Since a wreck in 2012 I have struggled to do "house keeping" and so I enjoy watching people who do. I think your house is such a beautiful house. My great-great-grandfather was born in 1824, just 2 years before your house was built.

Thanks so much for the history of the AD 100! I love viewing what "the best of the best" has to offer, and I did not know that one of my longtime favorite interior design magazines: Architectural Digest, began in 1920, and in California! I first discovered the magazine at the Air Force base exchange when I was in my early 20's as a young bride in a foreign country! It was a discovery I have treasured for many many years! And thank you for sharing from your heart and your own personal home, your Thanksgiving decor! I recall the memory of the "children's table" at Christmas---but I was never much of a child even as a child, and preferred sitting with my Mom, my grandmother and aunt at the grownups table---after the men finally made their departure! It was special to me to be dressed up and at the "GROWN UPS' table", to "bond" with the women. Thank you for sparking that memory---I haven't thought about it in many years! HAPPY THANKSGIVING---to you and yours!

You are very sweet. Yes they are oysters and I hang them every Christmas in honor of my grandfather. My grandfather would often tell me a story during November and December which is oyster season here in North Carolina. It went something like this: he called it, The blessing of the oyster and the clam. Not only do they produce pearls so beautiful they adorn the crown jewels, but adult oysters and clams filter 2 1/2 gallons of water per hour improving our water quality. They also help build reefs, providing habitat for sea life guarding against erosion and protecting our fragile shoreline. And then he would add; just like you, they are a blessing and an original creation with a beautiful purpose. 💕

The price of the AD anniversary volume is so crazy for me because I've been reading the magazine for years and most of the pictures and designers, if not already published on youtube, are/were known to me from the magazine. I occasionally write for a newspaper. The editors did not have to invest heavily in the photos, and could certainly go back on their photo archive for the many, albeit successful, examples.
