Thanks Neil. A friend has the Explorer Trophy and is very happy with it. The Quintrex Renegade is the equivalent to the Outlaw. However, talking to someone only yesterday they felt the Quiny was too expensive compared to Outlaw. Shame you don't have a local dealer. Both out of the same stable though. Bit of a bummer re delivery time.

Nice honest review, well done. I bought the Renegade, it's interesting to see differences between our rigs. Mine has the tackle box locker in the rear casting deck. My console looks the same as yours, but I enclosed the large hole in the front and put my rod holder across it and works well. I also fitted led lighting all around the underside of the console, and its fantastic at night.

Thanks bruno2. As mentioned in the review the display boat I looked at had the tackle box locker as well as a continuous rear casting deck. Neither were there on the delivered boat without warning. Considered installing rod holders but don't like rods standing upright. Just a personal preference.

Just found your channel.Excellent review mate.I have a quinny estuary angler and the main reason I went unpainted is easy maintenance and NO paint issues.Painted does look nice for a little while though.😉
@fishingwiththefossil.61992 жыл бұрын
Hi Fabian. You are right - paint does look good. But protecting it can be a real chore. The boat ramp I use has a pontoon with the pilons coming up on one side. These pilons are protected by wire cages (is suspect to stop feet slipping through the opening) that come right to the edge of the pontoon. Unless you have a small tinny your paint work runs down the side of these. So painted boats are reluctant to use this side. Got to wonder some times.

Good and honest review. Oxidisation is nothing new to aluminum boats and its why i wouldnt pay for a painted hull. If the Stacer's ride is good, the ride of the Quintrex equivalent is far superior in a chop due to its "blade hull" I think Stacer have address this with the new Revolution hull so if anyone is looking at these on the second hand market not which one you are looking at. These are great boats and I own a larger 460. Easily the best tin boat I have ever had.

Sweet boat! I have the newer model with the Revo hull. The gunnels are not painted and that is a nice touch which helps with the paint peeling. Overall I am very happy with the boat. I agree that the Minn Kota is money well spent too. Cheers for your review!

You will enjoy the upgrade. I suspect that this corrosion is really caused by electrolysis which can result through earthing to the hull. More often this is via mounting the outboard to the hull.

Hey I just watched this and I have the same boat but there's little differences I'm not sure why. I had the same surprise as you, the rear hatch was missing even tho when I ordered the boat it was there, I was disappointed too. The other odd thing is that I don't have a rear hatch in the floor for the battery, instead it's under the bigger splash well and I have to reach it by taking the portable fuel tank out and twisting my body upside down to reach it.... 😟 I don't have the underfloor tank, I wanted it but $2400 extra is a lot.. Overall I like the boat but I'm paranoid about the paint bubbles, I read in the manual to expect them too. I like how comfortable these boats are, I used to break my spine in a heavy fiberglass boat but these seem to fly over choppy waters. I've been using Meguiar's waterless car wash and wax all over the hull and it seems to have helped the paint so far. I wish Yamaha had something like vessel view, I do like my Yamaha but I've had to spend more to be able to see information about the motor. I don't use the live bait well either but I'm thinking of filling it with ice and putting beer in it and then the ice will drain itself 👍
@fishingwiththefossil.61992 жыл бұрын
As you have noticed the hull really cuts through the chop. My previous boat would have bounced across it. Still a very comfortable boat to fish from. Something I failed to mention in my review is the trailer wheels locking up when parked for a few days. Can take some effort to get them rolling, then all OK. At times I have to hitch up to free them. Have started to spray lanolin on them as I suspect that the problem is rust.

@fishingwiththefossil.6199 Жыл бұрын
55hp. From top of motor to head 1480mm
@chrisoh66273 жыл бұрын
Well I would call that false advertising/fraud. You were shown a bigger boat plated for 5ppl and you got a smaller/lighter boat plated for 4ppl. You park that boat beside the older hull you were shown and its a big difference. Stacer/Quintrex dealers are using the old photos of the bigger/original 429 and showing internal shots of the new 420.... This is purely cost cutting and ease of manufacturing using the 440 casting decks in the 420 with the older 419 outlaw hull. Soon as I pointed this out you get blocked or deleted

Good review mate. Any tips on installing the minnkota to the bow plate? I've got an almost identical Quintrex Top Ender and just bought a Motorguide. Not sure I'm going to fit all four screws of the quick release to the bloody plate. Not much room under there. Cheers.
@fishingwiththefossil.61993 жыл бұрын
Thanks FF. I had to fiddle with the fitting of the quick release plate. As you say, not much room under there. Telwater obviously don't look at these plates when they design the fit the mount plate. The other thing to watch when drilling your holes it that the plate allows for a lock to be fitted. On the Minnkota if it is too far from the edge then a lock can't be fitted.

Thanks Jazzy. Have not cleaned this one yet. Vacuum it on a regular basis. Mainly for fishing line off cuts and crumbs from lunch. @fishingwiththefossil.61993 жыл бұрын
Just about everyone will have a take on this. This is what I did. Started with installing a 110Ah deep cycle battery. Once on site I only use the electric and it can be running continuously for over six hours with no problem. I installed it under the left side front hatch. My model has a flat carpeted floor under front hatches which made this easy. Obviously don't know about your purchase. I also fitted a waterproof breaker under the same hatch. Can't remember which gauge wire I used. However your dealer should be able to help here. On the deck front wall to the left of the anchor well I fitted an Anderson plug. So wiring goes from Anderson plug, through wall, down to breaker then on to battery. Hope this helps. For the compass I fed power from the crank battery. This is because I installed a buss bar under the console to support a number of other devices. I mentioned this in my review.

Nice review mate. Ive just sold my Quinnie 475 SC and am now considering one of these. On my Quinnie I had to raise the console and controls around 75mm so I could stand up while underway. Im around 6ft tall. Are you able to stand comfortably while underway with your standard setup or you have to remain seated?

I am about 5'10.5", so about one and half inches shorter. i only stand up when I am navigating through weed or narrow channel. Quite often do this standing beside console. Not a problem for me. If on the plane moving to a new spot, then I sit down for no reason than comfort.

Hi Tom. Replied to this earlier today but God only knows where it went. Not sure I want to be responsible for your boat selection. Re electrolysis - you are going to go nuts over this topic.
