So well written. It has become the most quoted fishing book and film ever written.

Must be so nice to live in a beautiful place like that. Seems peaceful and so safe. Two little boys all alone with no worries of anybody molesting or kidnapping them.

Kids need more afternoons like ones Norman had . . .but I suppose only if they receive the types of mornings he had too.

Although of the Presbyterian branch of the Maclean tribe (Norman Maclean's family) it begs the question...could it be presumed that certain members of that said Presbyterian faction might have followed the mostly Catholic Jacobites into battle during the 1745 uprising that led to Culloden, where many western Scots Highland clansmen were skewered by disciplined British bayonets after rushing into the lines of the waiting Hanoverian forces, waving their swords & shouting their fearsome battle cries? I'm sure some did, though most Presbyterian Macleans undoubtedly remained loyal to the Protestant Crown, as steadfastly as the Catholic Jacobite clansmen stayed dedicated to their cause back during the era of 1689-1746. Has to make one wonder!

This 3 minute clip has everything to do with what once made America great and unfortunately everything to do with what is ailing America today. We have such a bad educational system that promotes mediocrity. If students never learn ‘what good looks like’ and ‘what great looks like’, every American-born adult will wallow in accepting that a C student is average and normal. And as for disgracing a fish, so true. In life as in dry fly fishing, do it right or don’t do it at all. I’ve always said catching a fish with less-than-perfect means was an insult to the fish; i must have subconsciously stolen that from having first watched this movie decades ago. ‘Disgrace’ is a more appropriate term. So many lessons in 3 minutes.
