To be honest, I am too lazy to clean my bike after every ride. Don't get me wrong, my bike is cleaner than my room and I just want it to bling all the time. I guess I do spend enough time cleaning it, even though I only ride on dry roads. Greets from Austria :)

GCN is at their very best when they take us riding with them! Thanks guys, personally I am ready to see more of England from your bikes. I will probably never afford to go there, but the country side looks beautiful to me! Keep the great riding shows coming they inspire the rest of us to get out and ride!

I live in NW North Carolina, USA. You guys should come ride here, I live in the foothills, but, the Blue Ridge Mountains are only 60 miles away. People come from all over the world to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway. Where I live it is gently rolling hills and almost no traffic. We have a well established Amish Community to boot and many great wineries as well. You guys should do a Grand Fondo here, My wife and I would love to ride a few miles with Emma! She can bring any of the boys that she likes!

Yeeeww! Just started cyclocross a couple of months ago and love it! You'll love it Emma!! :) I've found it's been good to break up the boredom of just doing so many hours on the road. Having that bit of variety has helped kept me motivated with my road cycling. It's also helped with my bike handling skills - so great cross training for sure.

Awesome timing! I bought my first road/cyclocross bike just a few weeks ago. Last weekend I went into its natural terrain=the wood for the first time and it was amazing fun! I seem to have a natural instinct for a few of the techniques but obviously, lack much experience on drop handlebars etc. Still, I was astonished how capable the bike and how safe I therefore felt - roots, sand, steep decends - nothing seemed a problem. Can't wait for the next weekend and I will definitely try to learn along with you, Emma! Have fun!

As kids in those pre-mountain bike days (pre-anything really) if we got hold of an old bike (ladies one preferably to lessen chance of spoiling the chances of fatherhood) we would strip them down, paint them psychedelic (come on; it was the mid 60's) and voila - an off-road bike, or as we called them 'Trackers'. If you had a tracker in our neighbourhood, you were somebody! My dad found an abandoned one in a friends commercial garage. I still remember the excitement when he brought it home for me. Happy days!

"Don't take a Knife to a Gun Fight'? I recently fronted up to a charity 'Mountain Bike' ride with a Cyclocross bike. There was a lot of giggles on the start line when others saw the drop handlebars and presumed it was a road bike. After a quick stop to drop some air out of the tyres to suit conditions, she flew over the 50km course, 4th across the line and only 5min behind 1st. If I can ever afford to buy a second bike it will be a Cyclocross.

Emma's bike is a gravel bike, not a cyclocross bike. frame would be hard to use in a cx race and the bottom bracket is a bit too far backwards too. There is obviously some argument to be had whether the distinction is really important or not and i suspect for most bikes it actually isnt - however her bike would be impossible to shoulder so there is that.

I have no plans to enter a cyclocross race but love riding trails like this on my vintage road bike and I'm looking to get a dedicated bike for doing it. How does a gravel/adventure bike compare to a cyclocross bike for the kind of terrain you've shown here?
