Bike collectors prefer steel. It's the craftsmanship that matters. This beautiful but very expensive bike is directed at collectors. No doubt. The top tube even has the classic almost horizontal to the ground geometry.

A front wheel drive is much harder to learn to ride. I know that they can be lighter as they don't have the super long chain but I tried one and couldn't adapt to pedalling whilst steering. They don't offer much if any improvement on hills compared to other recumbents. I chose a Schlitter Encore high racer. It is more visible to drivers than the super low ones. It took a couple of days to learn how to ride and a couple of weeks to gain enough confidence to use clipless pedals. Injuries from being struck by a distracted driver made riding a conventional road bike a painful experience.

I've had a 40mm travel suspension fork on my gravel bike for about 18 months now and I'm not going back! If you ride mostly off road, you need some front squish. For the future, I predicted a return to the 'soft tail'. We will see several gravel bikes sporting around 20-40mm of travel in the form of frame flex enabled by a small shock or elastomer. (Also, cool to see DJ on GCN.)

The Government will not save money by reducing car usage. They will lose money. Cars add countless amounts to the economy because we spend money in more places Seaside resorts Theme parks Out of town shopping Drive throughs (personally not a fan) National trust properties Hotels in the Cotswolds/Lake district/The Highlands Campsites None of the above would exist in such large numbers were it not for the car.

Gravel bike for me here in Australia because half the time where I live the bitumen road turns into gravel , which I thought these gravel bikes were designed for “gravel roads”.Single track and fire trails I use my mountain bike 🤷🏼‍♂️

Lowering the speed actually makes it harder for drivers to get passed cyclists quickly. And creates more fumes particulates for the cyclist to breath in. Genius idea that one.

Its only a public health hazard because of the never ending supply of moronic idiots who continually walk in the road. Pedestrians walking in the road unchallenged is at epidemic proportions. Some genius decided to 'help' pedestrians by creating 20MPH speed limits in all our major cities. All that has ever achieved is to encourage the Smart phone zombie generation to walk in the road whenever they feel like it. And there's not exactly a shortage of crossing points in London now is there? Yet its perfectly ok to cross the road 20 feet before the crossing cos they cant be arsed to walk for another 20 seconds and cross safely I mean its not like i'm hard to spot, a 3.5 ton noisy diesel engine van the size of a large Garden shed coming at you? yet somehow it always takes them by surprise? If you don't believe me, come out in my delivery van for a day in London, you will be shocked at the amount of suicidal idiots there are, and there attitude towards drivers. They look at you like you're doing something wrong. We need a change in the law right now. Its called Jay walking, if you cross the road when/where you're not supposed to, it is you the pedestrian that is at fault, and you will be arrested and fined for it. Then eventually the we hate cars generation who are to lazy to get a job and learn to drive will cotton on to the fact that its there fault. Now, enough about drivers, lets consider the poor cyclists in London. If the dumb pedestrians cant see/hear a large van? what are the chances of seeing a bicycle that comes at them way more silently? Well i'll answer my own question, no chance what so ever. I see far more arguments/shouting from cyclists towards pedestrians than i ever do with drivers. The reason, well its a clever little trick we were taught at school and by our parents. Its called bending your neck left and right before you cross the road. So many pedestrians don't seem to think its important, they are the problem here, not the cyclists/drivers who are at least trying to get somewhere, not wandering around in the road. As for the car is king argument? yes it is, thats because there are 33 million car drivers in the UK. Most of whom have only got a car by first getting a job and working hard. Not relying on some kind of Government benefit to help them. And without the car UK tourism would be reduced by about 80%. There are 6 million cyclists, so they are outnumbered, and out matched in every way by car owners, sorry about that. But humans vote with there feet. Personally i happen to be both, and cycling through a city myself, i always find pedestrians way more of a hazard. mainly because cars are at least predictable in behaviour. Pedestrians just appear out of nowhere and expect you to know what they're thinking. Rant over cant wait to read peoples comments.

If I'm not racing and I only ride for the joy of cycling, why should I put racing handlebars on my mountain bike? So that I'm 5 minutes faster on my lap.....? Less control, uncomfortable riding position and therefore less fun.

Gravel bikes are reverting into mountain bikes more & more, i am currently building a gravel bike using a 2009 scott mbk frame, and it's looking good with a respectable weight, only downside is having to use a smaller wheel size, but i don't think will be a problem, not sure to put on suspension of straight forks, the frame came with suspension forks but they do add weight to it,
