Enjoyed seeing that bit of scenery again! The rocky section just leaving St. Elmo looks like it's now in a lot better shape than it was in 2014 when I ventured up it in my stock FJC. Thanks for some good memories.

One of the best ‘ghost town loops in a day.’ It’s great if you’re looking for an easy trail but want to be beaten up a little to fill like you’ve done something. And, with open General Stores in St. Elmo and Pitkin ghost towns, you can actually stop and get a root beer and hot dog or whatever along the way. An absolutely beautiful drive that I loop into Salida. Great video.

Add this to my list for summer. Another excellent video, love the drone work too.

I've done the trail a couple of times, once going each way. I would rate it 3 out of 10. The trail is very rocky which takes away some of the fun. There are good views from the top and Mirror Lake is beautiful. St. Elmo and Tin Cup are both interesting towns.

Tincup isn't hard per se, but the rockiness of the road and ohv traffic makes for slow going. If you go during the spring/early summer the road around the lake may be flooded so keep to the far right and hug the hillside. We drove through 18 inches of water for about 100 yards. For a nice return trip, you can come back over Cottonwood Pass, which is paved, or you can go over Cumberland Pass to Pitkin and then out to Hwy 50.

Literally JUST found your channel while I was looking for video of longwater gulch. I'm in Colorado Springs and just getting into offroad trails. We'll have to do a ride together sometime

In the Springs too. Always looking for people to wheel with. We will be doing Hackett and Chinaman at least this summer

As of June 18th, Mirror Lake is still flooded, so you won't be able to complete the pass. I would wager that there is probably about 4 to 5 feet of water over the would-be road there, maybe more. Not even the hardiest of Yeep's or Taco's are making that right now. Waiting until mid/late July is advised most of the time. We camped on the lake and waking up to those stunning views.....yeah.

I'm glad I can say I did it but it sure isn't one of my favorites. The rockiness isn't challenging or fun.
