Putting an antenna on a CB is illegal? SSB is illegal as well? This guy is full of it. Going to watch a little more of this video to see if more lies are told. Got a little farther in his comparison of CB to GMRS and now his claim that they transmit farther than CB is the fact GMRS can use repeaters something CB does not do so there is another lie told as to performance of CB to GMRS. Take away that repeater ability and GMRS will not compare. Sure, GMRS has more wattage but without repeaters GMRS has trouble just transmitting over a hill, CB with 4 watts can talk easily many miles even with hills in the way. I live in a valley and talk to people in my mobile 35 miles away on SSB on AM/FM I talk an easy 20 miles. BTW I know his job in this vid is to support and talk up GMRS. Back to the video. He is right about line of sight the cleaner the farther you talk. Wait, what? Mobile to mobile with ham radios is overkill? Yet 50 watts GMRS mobile to mobile isn't? Ok I have watched enough I'm stopping at the overkill comment.
@TrailTravelerКүн бұрын
Wow, you sure misinterpreted everything I said. I never said an antenna on CB is illegal, nor did I say SSB is. I only said that using amps is illegal.
@rogerhancock873218 сағат бұрын
@@TrailTraveler Think you need to review your own video. Did I mention amps? No I did not because those are illegal. I did however watch the rest of your video from the point my comment was made on and found the rest to be quite informative.
@TrailTraveler18 сағат бұрын
@ I never said antennas were illegal. My comment about SSB was that the use of illegal amps was very prevalent on SSB years ago
@rogerhancock8732Сағат бұрын
@@TrailTraveler A quote directly from your video, From the Benefits section of the video "CB radio never had much in range although yes I know you could put on things like amplifiers and huge antennas and side band and stuff but that's not really legal is it". According to what you said if it is not legal then it is therefore illegal. Again, I remind you in my original comment I did not say anything about amps that is because I agreed amps are indeed illegal to use on CBRS.
@TrailTravelerСағат бұрын
@ sheesh, nit picky. I only meant amps were illegal. Maybe try watching my more current version of the video that is linked in that description

C.B. absolutely has its place in the world still today. It has prevented many accidents due to real truckers using them and communicating of hazards ahead and informing each other if something needs the drivers attention with their load or their rig that otherwise the driver wouldn't have noticed until its too late. So for most of the world that has no clue of the trucking world, just be assured that the c.b. radio may not be the chatter box it was in the 70s but it is still very much an important part of the trucking industry. They all have their place. I have c.b. radios in my big trucks , and grms as well as c.b. in my jeep. I agree with the pros and cons of both. Its all about getting the right tool for the job intended.

Kerry, the LF Bros N2pro has suddenly reappeared for sale on Amazons site. It seems they have updated the handheld controller and within the product details they claim that when in temperature control mode , the unit will not shut down when the desired temperature is achieved but will continue to operate at the lowest setting. Apparently someone at LF Bros took your ( input /opinion) and sent it up the chain of command. Again, thanks for all your effort.

There are apps that can measure sound pressure on a phone. Yeah, they are not going to be super accurate when measured against a real sound meter; however, as a comparison measurement the results would be completely valid. That said, the sound levels measured by a MK I ear are also indicative of performance. Assuming the sound levels were the same on the input, that is also highly indicative of relative performance. Thank you.

Overlanding - def. Adventure travel lifestyle in which weekend dirt pirates and the residentially challenged spend an inordinate amount of time and money building vehicles, buying bougie accessories, electronics, survival and recovery gear, fuel and then plan and travel to remote places to go camping for free.
@BoCoOverland4 күн бұрын
Overlanding spans the spectrum from weekend jaunts to forest service campsites to multi year expeditions crossing multiple international borders traveling offroad in very remote regions. What you need will vary according to what your plans are. At minimum, food, shelter and water, but what about preparing for the unexpected? No one needs a fire extinguisher unless you need to put out a fire, a first aid kit, unless you're injured, etc. Setting aside labels, research what you plan to do and plan according to that. Preparing for the unexpected should be proportional to the remoteness and lack of access to help in an emergency. What you sleep in and what you eat is just a matter of style preference and budget.
