Sad part is, throughout human history the majority of children died most times slow and horrible deaths... but no tears shed for them, or for those precious children who died in Europe's Bubonic Plague, or the Tutsi children genocided in Africa, or the hundreds of thousands of children trafficked across the US' southern border, lost and never to be seen again. Well, I suppose tears need shed, if for no other reason than to feel like you've done something, you're a good person and you really care. :)

You can buy solder paste that would suit this soldering job perfectly. It's the consistency of toothpaste. Just a tiny blob on each connector, (which also helps 'stick' the component in place), then apply heat & the jobs a good one.

Always a pleasure watching your interesting new videos. As has been mentioned in other posts...you would have had a much easier time using a bit of solder paste...micro granules of solder balls in a liquid flux which can be heated with a stanmech heat gun to carefully melt the solder. It can be dialed down to a low setting with very precise tempurature that will flow the solder paste and keep everything nice and tidy. Also the look of the solder joint should be shiny. It was hard to tell if you kept the heat long enough but the color of the join was giving the impression of a cold solder joint. This can fail after a time of cycling h/c which will create a fracture over time. I know everyone's a critic but considering your not necessarily a expert in micro soldering then you pass either way. I have done many a micro joint by hand with both Iron and heat gun. Practice is all it takes. Thanks for the video and happy trails!

This is just my opinion: I think it may be important to point out that when Rolex decided to make a quartz watch, it was during a time when quartz movements for watches were a semi-luxury item and not particularly cheap. At the time it was an up-sale benefit to the mechanical watch; a timepiece built on technology, accuracy, and convenience... that convenience factor of not having to worry about everyday winding. But as the costs of making quartz movements began to lower in price, the 'luxury' factor began to lose its appeal, as in the late 70's early 80's, pretty much every cheap watch on the market was now a quartz movement watch. However, as we continue to see, many of the more luxury watch makers are still making quartz movements, and their prices are still relatively high. I am just one of those guys who looks for quartz watches for collectable value, but they are nice watches. However, I would say, by looking at the incredible detail and fine finish on both the dial and on the inside of this Rolex, it most certainly has some intrinsic high value, even if as a dead watch... a fine collector's piece for sure.

I have no problem with Rolex making a quartz. Many people prefer them, so why not make a nice looking one? Looking on eBay, the prices don’t seem too ridiculous, like they do for the Rolex tool watches, and the prices seem to reflect the amount of precious metals rather than the Rolex cachet. Joe, I like long videos from you, and short ones. This was a nice video to watch during lunch. Now I gotta get back to work.
