Reminds me of my kitty Gabriel - the cleverest cat I've ever known, and I've known a *_lot._* He would flatly refuse to drink out of a bowl, or cup, or puddle, totally rejecting standing water. Whenever he was thirsty, he'd come and find me, nagging me until I'd agree to follow him to the bathroom, whereupon he would hop into the sink and poke at the cold tap with his paw, indicating what he wanted. I would then turn it on, just a trickle, and he could have his drink. He was clever enough to figure out that I made the water come out by putting my hand on the tap and doing *_something_* to it, and he would _try_ to mimic me and turn it on himself, but just didn't have the strength to make it turn. I reckon that, if we had had one of those taps you turn on by pushing or pulling a long lever, he could have gotten the hang of it in no time. We never knew exactly *_why_* he would only drink running water, whether it was simply down to the taste of it, or some kind of instinct or genetic memory that made him distrust standing (possibly stagnant) water, or whether he was just being weird and unique. I still really miss Gabe - he was my best and closest friend for more than a decade . . .
