A Rubber Band Revolver!

Another intersection between grown-up tools and boyish impulses. I went as an old west prospector for Halloween and I knew I needed a trusty Colt Single Action Army Revolver by my side. The only catch was that I didn't want to spend any time in jail, so I opted for a rubber band shooting variant.

@@TabletopMachineShop my most recent filling is making an approximately square 1/4 inch hole in some 5/8 (i think) square high carbon steel. We have a pretty nice machine shop at my University, but they somehow didn't have any single point threading tools.

Bit late to the party but I have to ask - how long does it take to prep and laser a piece of wood like this? It doesn´t seem very intricate and it´s not a "functional" part. You should be able to saw it in about 4 minutes top (being very generous). Especially if you´re going to sand it anyway. I certainly don´t doubt the method, but the curiosity is killing me :D

So will the Allen key holder make noise if you forget long enough or try to take out too many keys at once? Also need to add a finger print read to log tool check in/out times.

You're right on the first count -- prototype 1 will just light up when the allen key is out, thus triggering my deeply programmed desire to make sure the lights are out before I leave, but prototype 2 might be a bit more involved and have timers and sounds and things. We'll see how prototype 1 turns out!

Let me guess. There will be some buttons for what screw you want to tighten and the corresponding Allen key will light up.

That would be cool, but it's more of an "Allen key alarm" if I take the allen key out and don't put it back in say, a minute or so :P

Neat project. Might I mention that the Thingiverse project carries a license that specifies both non commercial and share alike clauses. Isnt it a violation to place your version of the plans behind a Patreon paywall? I get and support putting your original content plans behind a paywall but this is different. Isn't it a bit of a dick move to monetize a project so heavily based on plans and designs from two sources that freely gave them away? No ill will intended, I'm just thinking out loud. Cheers

I would argue that there are enough differences and enough changes were made to the design that it should be fine, but you make a good point, I'll put it up as a freebie!
