A Ruckus Of A Ride (2009/10)

Here’s a video from a couple different rides I put together back in 2009 and 2010 using some video from me and my friends videos.
This was back when we were all in to modifying Honda Ruckus’s by installing a lot of aftermarket parts, including engine swaps! A lot of guys, including us, did engine swaps from the stock Honda 49cc motor to a 150cc GY6 motor. These mini motos with the stock 49cc Honda motor would typically max out at around 35mph and with the swapped out 150cc GY6 motor, they would max out between 60 and 70 MPH when tuned properly. That might not seem fast, but being on something so low and with small wheels, makes for an exciting ride!
These mini motos were a blast to ride and we took them all over the place and places that were to far to ride, we tossed them in the back of our trucks and drove there.
During each spring there was an huge ride event put on that would bring hundreds of riders, mainly on Honda Ruckus’s, from all over the US.

Then within a few years, there became less and less riders as a lot riders switched to larger motorcycles, which I was one, or just went with different overall mini motos.
Nowadays I’ll see someone cruise by on a Ruckus and think back to those days when these bikes were all over place, especially here in the San Gabriel valley and how much fun we had, but now not so much of these bikes are around. I do sometimes miss these days, they were always fun rides to do and go on and I’m happy I was involved in it during its peak, met tons a great people, and shared a lot of fun times together, great memories!
