I tried hooking up the same bait tank but the water flow didn’t help when driving fast… my bait died
@SoCalSeaChaser
@SoCalSeaChaser 26 күн бұрын
I’m not 100% understanding, do you have a pump to pump in fresh water to the tank ? If not, you need one, bait fish need constant fresh water circulating in the tank and an outflow hose (blue pool hose size) to remove water, ammonia, and scales. If you do have a pump, you need at least a 800gph pump for that tank with no obstructions on the hose (with the exception of a ball valve with the same diameter) so nothing lowers or restricts the water flow from the pump to the tank. Water has to enter at the bottom and your hose diameter should be at least the same size as a garden hose. Your outflow water should pour out of your outflow hose constantly at a good rate. Bait fish especially sardines, need clean oxygenated water. If your tank is the same size, it should handle a full scoop of sardines with a 800gph pump or larger. Make sure to buy a good name brand pump like Rule or Johnson, they pump out water true to their specs. A smaller Kodiak tank does well with a half scoop. The trial and error sucks with a new tank set up, sardines are not cheap, but once you get it dialed in, the bait fish will last all day with minimal dead loss.

@@SoCalSeaChaser Oohh this that makes sense so when I get going I can have water moving through the bait tank so the fish won’t die. Okay still a working progress thank you!

@@user-pm3bp6cq4x Your pump needs to be ON the entire time pulling fresh water in from the ocean and back out the outflow hose, no matter if you’re driving around or stopped, the water in the tank needs constant fresh water circulation to keep them alive. Also the current created in the tank from the fresh water coming in, helps sardines school together and swim in a circular direction conserving their energy and not swimming erratically which injures them. Sardines are very delicate.

@SoCalSeaChaser
@SoCalSeaChaser Ай бұрын
Yes I replaced it with a Geloo (generic brand), KUS USA is supposed to be better, but no issues so far with Geloo. It's a 16" 240-33 ohms fuel sender. It does not go all the way to the bottom, 17" might with the tank I have. But for me the 16" is good because when it reads EMPTY, I know I have roughly 5 gallons left. Just found your channel looking for more information about Arima boats and to my surprise you are local. Have you ever owned a 15’? I am really debating between the 15’ and 17’. I know the saying bigger is better but the thought of storing a boat inside my garage for local bay and offshore fishing is very appealing.
@SoCalSeaChaser
@SoCalSeaChaser 11 ай бұрын
I’ve owned a 16 and 17 Sea Chaser and now a 19 Sea Ranger. If you’re going to be storing the boat in your garage, the 16 will fit like a car. The 17 is a bit taller and wider, so it depends on the height of your garage door opening and length. If you’re able to get the bow as low as possible on the 17, you should be able to push it in your garage. The wildcard for the 17 not fitting is if it’s on rollers or high bunks, more so on rollers since it sits very high. Some owners typically add a swing tongue and park it at a slight angle to fit in a garage. The average length of a 17 with the motor down to the coupler on the trailer is around 23 feet, give or take a foot, and about 7 feet tall. The 16 Sea Chaser is capable of running offshore on good days, but it will bob like a croak and might not be the greatest boat to go offshore in or choppy conditions, but I had zero issues running inshore out to the rigs etc. The 17 Sea Chaser is a very good mix of compact and range. It will go offshore and have a better ride given the bow is taller and the boat itself is wider, again conditions no matter the size plays a roll when going offshore. The 19 is better overall, but then you need to consider your storage options. Trailering these boats are easy and you get a lot space on the decks. The 16 and 17 Sea Chasers have a very close identical deck size, with the exception of the deck is wider and a couple inches taller on the 17 and the 17 has a wider and a foot longer bow. Overall the 17 is the best option imo. Good luck with your search!

In short, yes. But everything you have onboard will draw power even if you turn it off at the device since things like a chart plotter is in a ready state. I would highly suggest installing a battery ON/OFF switch from Blue Seas for your boat.
