The fact the pumper truck vaccum picked up all that dried 💩, 🧻, and wipes at the cleanout was impressive. It would have bern easier to wet it down a little bit so it didn't get stuck in the stinger.

I'll be interested to know if you get another call back to that house. This video is a good example of how defective equipment (the toilet) can damage a septic system along with all the other things like wipes and grease which don't belong there. Those homeowners ought to invest in a bidet attachment, which as you know SHIOULD cut out the wipes, and reduce the amount of paper being used. We have had ours for at least 3 years and don't know what we did without them. Should they need a new drain field, is this something you could video to show us how it's done?

The plug in the first tank was caused by the backing up of the water (and wipes). FIRST thing is pump the last tank leading to the drainfield then run a camera in the outgoing pipe, OFTEN when the tank is installed the first 2 feet of the pipe leading out will develop a "dip" due to setteling of the dirt after installion....then, if you get cold enough temps the standing water in the dip will freeze causing a blockage. Not sure how cold it's been getting down there I'm not sure how deep that pipe is but just something to consider it's a very common thing up here in Minnesota.

We have a septic tank at our farm which is mainly used on weekends, but more often in summer. Never got pumped since the early 80's til about 3 years ago. Was about 35% hard sludge. Had it pumped after watching your videos and now just get it pumped every year. Better safe than sorry. Enjoy the videos and education. Keep pumping. 💩
@pootispiker28664 ай бұрын
There's no need to waste money pumping it that often. Every 5 years is more than enough for an installation like that.

Thanks for all the informative and entertaining videos! I try and watch one every night after my devotion. Question please. My septic company says he always leaves some in the tanks as a "starter" for the bacteria, but I see you pump it all they way down. Which is better? Thanks!

I'm on a municipal sewer so don't have to worry about septic management in my own case, but I'm curious as to how a running toilet can do so much damage to a septic system? 😳 Wouldn't a continual trickle of water simply keep the bottom of the drains clear of muck and then pass through the tank into the drain field, or does it cause issue with the settling process in the tank thus pushing more solids through the secondary tank and into the drain field, causing premature blockages? 😇
@moto-fl3rdАй бұрын
I think the drain lines get over saturated and can't absorb any more water and so the tank fills with water and it eventually backs up to the house.

IF it had been a drainfield issue (say, it was clogged with waste that was forced out of the outlet side) is there a remedy to clean out the drain field pipes? Or is it just: excavate replace/re-lay?
@dieseldragon67562 ай бұрын
Excavate and replace is the only option, I think. Most of the drain field piping is about 1" diameter and the perforations mean plant roots will enter the piping to access the water there for plant use. It means that a drain field is easy to lay, but once well bedded-in and established it's pretty much impossible to service or remove again.
@moto-fl3rdАй бұрын
Gravity drain field lines around here are 4". If it's a pressurized system with pumps it's a smaller line.

At the apartment complex I live at my apartment is part of a three apartment unit. We started having slow flushing toilets resulting in having to use the plunger a lot. The problem indicated that the drain field had failed but when the septic pumper guys were pumping the septic tank the pumper guy made the observation that there was water running continuously into the inlet side the whole time he was was pumping the tank out. I noticed that as well. It wasn't my toilet that was the problem but one of the two other units that had a toilet that was at fault. Apparently the maintenance guys must have remedied the problem and it's been smooth sailing. It's something how other tenants are clueless as to notice if their toilet keeps running or not.
@MultiTurbospeed10 ай бұрын
A running toilet usually means the flapper in the tank has rotted out and toilet bowl tablets can eat the flapper within 16 months to 2 years. 2nd reason is the float needs to be adjusted and or replaced

@dieseldragon67562 ай бұрын
If that's the case, you need to have your system looked at pronto. If the outlet is higher than the inlet, your toilets will back-up as soon as the tank fills up as the water won't flow out to the drain field under gravity like it ought to.
