I'm a bit late in watching this. I'm so very sorry for the loss of your dear husband. I've watched you for many years on your podcasts. I've always admired your creations. It was magical to see all of your collections. I was born in the 50's so it brought back many memories. You have such a lovely home. If it were me I may not put it all away after Christmas. I remember watching your knitting podcast and enjoying it so much. I remember when you retired from your career. I am so very sorry to learn of the loss of your husband to such a horrific disease, pancreatic cancer, and at such an early age. I can't begin to imagine the extent of the loss you and your daughter have suffered. You are in my prayers. You did a marvelous job of decorating your home. Everything works together so well, yet is individual and special.

@@VictorianStudio My mother lost my father at an early age. He was 65 and died just 46 days after he retired. They had been married for slightly more than 30 years when he died. My mother was an artist, much like you. She always had a project going to improve the beauty of our home, even when they had a very limited budget in the early years of their marriage. As their budget increased, she started various collections as well. She spent the first year after his death trying to find her place as the home we grew up in no longer seemed like home to her. As time went on, she moved from that home, for several reasons. She remained creative and constantly was moving things around, editing the collections, if you will. Again, you have my deepest sympathies. I am glad your daughter lives nearby and you have a close relationship with her and her husband.

Your home is beautiful. I also spent my first Christmas alone this year. My husband passed away in September. We were married 35 years. It was really tough wasn’t it? My heart goes out to you. I am so sorry for your loss. I loved the idea of a memory tree. I may do that next year. Big hugs to you.

I too maded new changes for my first Christmas without my husband he want to heaven 4/14/21..i know how you feel..your home is so beautiful..i use to have red decorations now I have turquoise and pink in my living room I went and bought all turquoise decorations for Christmas new change for me too

Maureen, I didn’t realize you’d lost your husband this last year. I can imagine how difficult the holidays must have been for you. I was widowed at 29 to a man I’d been married to for only seven years, and who was the father of our young children. Though I know the pain and loss I endured couldn’t begin to compare to that of losing a mate you’d spent so many more years with, I do still recall how hard those ‘firsts’ were; first birthday after (his AND yours), first holiday after, first anniversary after, and many more firsts. Time doesn’t really heal all wounds, but as it passes, you do learn how to live a new normal. One day, it will dawn on you that you went hours rather than minutes of not thinking of them, and that you’re breathing a little easier. I must say, your home is positively gorgeous, and your artistic creativity is displayed in every nook and cranny. I thoroughly enjoyed your tour.

Hello from Regina where we have similar weather to yours. Right now the snow is very white eith diamonds in the sun. Blue skies of course. I have thrift and antique shopped in Winnipeg and brought home lots of treasures. I often visit my cousin in Charleswood. We have often seen deer passing through and she even had a baby born on her front step. I love collecting deer but you are the Queen. I love your deer collection and your Rudolf collection. I have the teaset and a few of the common books but your collection is fantastic. I am hapoy that you celebrated Christmas. It is different of course but I think you did find some joy in doing it. Hi Betty. Thank you so much. I am happy to welcome a neighbour and fellow Rudolph collector! We have had deer in our yard too - after Halloween a doe was chomping down on the pumpkin I threw in the backyard (I thought the bunnies would like it). She seemed to love it! We've also had families of deer sleep in our backyard since we have such mature trees. It's amazing to see them up close. All the best to you and yours in 2023 as well.
