“A Sacrilegious Disrespecting Of National Flag!” FA Stands By Controversial England Kit Design

The Football Association is standing by the controversial design of the new England shirt despite criticism from Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer.
The shirt’s manufacturer Nike has altered the appearance of the St George’s Cross using purple and blue horizontal stripes in what it called a “playful update” to the shirt ahead of Euro 2024.
Sunak warned Nike “should not mess” with the flag while Starmer urged Nike to “reconsider” the design.
The FA said it was “very proud” of the red and white St George’s Cross but gave its support to the new design.
“The new England 2024 home kit has a number of design elements which were meant as a tribute to the 1966 World Cup-winning team,” a spokesperson said.

The FA might like to remember that the whole point of the England team is to represent the English nation at football on the world stage. The Nike tick is a symbolic and well recognised symbol. It has never been changed. What makes it acceptable for them to change a national flag? The rubbish excuse of it to make it more inclusive is rediculous, a tiny little flag on the back of a collar that probably be covered by hair is not making it more inclusive. Inclusivity should be done in communities, not changing flags. This is just a way that seems like it's happening all aspects of England to test what they can get away with erasing our culture and heritage. Older American here. I have a long history of purchasing school / team uniforms from major uniform manufactures. Before a manufacturer makes a set of jerseys / uniforms someone, on the purchasing side, has to sign-off on every detail of the layout / logos, etc. before the uniforms are actually produced. I don't believe that uniform manufacturers like Nike just come up with their own designs. Why isn't anyone concerned with this issue trying to track down who actually approved the layout / design change?
