I have a great test before buying any car, new or used. I open the hood and touch the engine to be sure it is stone cold to the touch. I have someone start the car while I stand in front with the hood open, listening. If the engine starts and runs quietly, the engine is good. I have had new cars make loud ticks, knocks, and rattles when it's started stone cold. Never buy a car with a noisy engine! Next, drive the car and do everything, like accelerate hard, stop fast, dive it up hill and floor it, and manually shift the transmission. If the transmission shows zero problems, it is most often a good transmission.

@@webbedshadow2601 These tips work on new cars as well. You would be very surprised at how many new car engines make serious and troubling noises when they are started stone cold. If a used car ticks, knocks, or rattles, pass it by! DO NOT use that noise to get a lower price unless you are sure you want to spend what it costs to fix it.

Where did you get the idea aluminum corrodes faster than steel? As a veteran fence installer, I can tell you it absolutely does not. Many homeowners policies will not cover a steel fence within a half mile of the ocean exactly because it corrodes quickly and will cover aluminum constructions because it does not corrode. It’s in the name, aluminum oxide reacts with oxygen in the air to form a protective coating layer that does not flake like rust would on steel. This is just a fact.

I should have had a Head Gasket Leak Test Kit with me when I bought my '07 Tundra for cheap in in 2017, the head gasket failed January of '24 after I drove it 46K. I put it back on the road last week with a low mileage 2008 3UR that has all new gaskets, seals, cooling system, starter and alternator. That test kit could have helped me negotiate a better deal and prepared me for what I just went through.

Oh man I remember my first Honda civic, was an 04 and if you idled for more than 3 mins it would over heat and the only thing that would cool it down was either get moving or turn the car off. I think it might’ve needed a timing chain change because the thermostat was changed, and there wasn’t anything really wrong with the radiator. Every car I’ve had since then the temperature stays put at the place where it stops when it’s done heating up. Never had one get hot like that just from sitting still.

I used to have two hondas years ago. Both were a 91 prelude si and a 2000 civic ex coupe. They both had issues with the radiators. Other than that both were good. I do have a 2018 civic sedan lx. I've had issues with that one early on. The air conditioner i got that fixed. But hondas aren't as reliable as they used to be. Im disappointed in honda. Cause i loved hondas. Now not so much anymore.

Scotty does a 2019 Honda Civic with low mileage need transmission fluid or flush?

Those have a CVT transmission which I believe he recommends changing the fluid every 30,000 miles.

If your car has a manual transmission, with any mileage it will worth to keep it and spend on it.

Hey Scotty! 2010 ford focus ses, recently change thermostat and now while driving in the highway after a while the temp gauge starts to go down and eventually comes back to the middle (no overheating, overcooling instead) any idea what´s going on? Keep up the great work!!!

Tesla big rig on fire on I-80 near Lake Tahoe.

Just heard that it crashed, and the fire started a few seconds after the impact. Please pray for the driver. Although he walked away, he was scarred and shaken. Because it was a Tesla test rig, it's being taken back to Tesla for analysis of the post crash battery failure, and video from a Lytx DriveCam brand Dash Cam installed inside the rig shows the driver likely fell asleep at the wheel just prior to the crash. (Source: KCRA-TV in Sacramento, CA).

I think that you are a creative common sense mechanic and that makes me believe that you would have no problem building a magnetic generator and that’s just what the world needs. No outside source of fuel is necessary. I’ve seen one built by a backyard mechanic long time ago, and I’ll never forget it and you remind me of him, he powered his whole house with One and then he switched out the engine in a card with One

You couldn’t have better timing I’m having this problem right now. I got a 2005 Honda civic for 5 grand in April and recently in a long distance drive I would notice it would hover I. The three quarter range of heat. Once I even stopped at a light and it git the max, got past it and went back down to half way. Took it to a Honda dealership for an open recall it had, told them about the problem. They bellied it was the condenser and radiator fans. They replaced them but they said it still was overheating. I need this car, but I also don’t want to pay a ridiculous amount to fix it. Anyone know what it could be. I’m starting to believe it might be like the car in this video, the beginning of a blown head gasket 😢😢
