Pete is clearly wasting talent. Horrible defense for 7 years in a row now. Constant investment on the defense and yet it’s still trash because Pete doesn’t want to change his outdated philosophy. Pete emphasizes stopping the run and yet it kept on getting worse and we have the 30th run defense. Explain to me the point of a first round exit each time we get to the playoff. And explain to me why you like this trash soft zone defense. Prove me wrong with numbers instead of delusional opinions

Cosch Pete wasn’t reaching the players with his message anymore. The past two seasons saw them underachieve horribly for the amount of draft capital and money sunk into them. He wasn’t fired for the team’s 2017-2020 performance because there wasn’t nearly the money or capital invested in that team.

Thank you for everything, Pete. As for a new HC - Dan Quinn would be nice (as long as we get him a top OC), especially to punch the Cowboys in the dick, but I wouldn't mind someone like Ben Johnson or Mike Macdonald, considering every head coach we've ever had since Jack Patera were retreads and/or college coaches.

As a Seahawks fan, I'm scared. Pete and Russ are the only reason I got into football in the first place. I haven't known a life without him in the front office. Thanks for the sb Pete and everything you have done for us :)

Being older than the team, I've seen a lot of rough football long before Pete and John came around. While we have the makings of a good squad, I wouldn't be surprised if we scrape the bottom of the division for some time to come (hopefully that doesn't come to pass). We definitely were spoiled during the Pete years.

@@michaelm.1947 we won't ever be worse than the Cardinals, we have the talent, just need a good coach. We could get Quinn, Ben Johnson, Vrabel, Mike McDonald. Shit, even Harbaugh. But we will never be worse than the Cardinals

Im a hawks fan and I have mixed feelings about this. He was a great, positive and influential leader to the team and I’m gonna miss that. However, that 1 yard line call in the Super Bowl is still one of the dumbest calls I’ve ever seen

I’ll always remember him on the sidelines of super bowl 48 while the legion chewed up Denver. As a Hawks fan it was like redemption and revenge for the Steelers SB. For that alone I’ll never talk bad about him

"He didn’t get fired he just stepped into the advisory role" In other words, he got fired. He just happens to've earned enough respect for everyone to do the 'step-up to advisor' pantomime. No one's convincing me that the Always Compete! guy just gave up.

John Schneider was hired as General Manager in consultation with Pete in 2010. Amazing partnership. Still just 52 years old, Schneider becomes more powerful inside the organization now that Pete is out. Going to be really interesting to watch John work when he is (solely) in charge.

As a Seattle-ite and hawks fan I think it was time. During one of his Monday interviews there was a certain tone in his voice about the future and off-season and decisions that needed to be made. His tone makes sense now. He's still an advisor and hopefully we can get someone worthy to be his successor.

Washington DC sports fan here: My first reaction was "I can't believe they did this!" My second was "Why didn't they do this after the Malcom Butler Interception?" Olbermann was right. He said afterwards that after a team goes through something like that, you have to blow it up or they never recover. They never recovered.
