Service member, Karen Osborne, received a second chance at life when she underwent lifesaving kidney transplantation surgery at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). Sarah, her daughter and donor, underwent a fully robotic living donor nephrectomy surgery. This robotic technology enables a safer surgery for living donors, as well as faster recovery and return to work.
WRNMMC Organ Transplant Service was the first to perform fully robotic living donor nephrectomy surgery and has the most experience in robotic surgery in the Mid-Atlantic region.
WRNMMC is at the forefront of transplant surgical innovation in addition to having some of the best kidney transplant outcomes in the country. To learn more information, call (301) 295-4331 or e-mail dha.bethesda.wrnmmc.mbx.organ-transplant@mail.mil.
