Yes, please! I would ABSOLUTELY love to see a walkthrough of Scarlet Citadel! I just started it and I think it would be cool to see how your players ran it compared to mine. I love see that!

Yes that would be interesting. I ran this for my players and it is definitely a meat grinder. They couldn't wait to get out of the dungeon. I had to tone down the danger a little bit because they would have died a hundred times over. Seriously hard dungeon.

My players are on that point where they know they are getting themselves in a shitty situation, but they also don't want to go back.

Sounds like it’s tomb of horrors level scary for players. I love it.

This has a sudden death element, but it is more consistent and fair than Tomb of Horrors.

Awww... Mr.T... I live in Australia... an hour and half drive at 100kph, and I cross from the southern suburbs of my home city, to the northern suburbs of my home city... :D LOL Gotta love KP products, those kobolds really know what they're doing...which, isn't that surprising, given alot of the core Kobolds designed adventures for 3.5...LOL! I wish I could get my hands on more of KP's products, but its quite expensive to get them here :(

I don't want to be eaten by dire vampire bats or be grabbed by undead from chains. Your description of that was excellent, I felt like I was a part of it.

I'm having a blast running it and my players do too, although they somethimes feel like crying (a lot) :D I would be very interrested in seeing a series from this book to see what your take on this campaign is and maby get some inspiration from it :) I started doing this campaign because of you previous video about this book :)

I am currently running this after hearing you and many other's praise. It's been... not that great. I am glad I am running it as a fun in-between game. The book has so many issues and aspects that aren't explain or well conveyed. It's not the worst thing ever, but I wouldn't recommend this to many people unless you wanted to put in a crazy amount of extra work.

@@MrTarrasque Well the fact the maps/dungeon was designed separately from the writers is a huge one, as pointed out directly by the designer in an official KP interview. There is art that doesn't match descriptions, parts of the map that aren't depicted correctly, read aloud text that just assumes the players have information they don't know like locked chests/doors. Don't even get me started on the alchemy machine they introduce for the players to attempt to use. We're having fun with it for what we can make of it, but it's not a super well designed product.

Yeah, there are some NO Warning, Instant death events that are in this Dungeon. I thought the Oozes were dangerous until my players went into the time-wimey part of the same level, and touched some pink lightning. MAN I LOVE THE MAPS!!!! Did you play live? Do you use the maps or do you Theatre of the Mind for your combats? I am enjoying the episodic review. I really helps me run the game better to see how other people handle things - otherwise people just instantly die when they touch pink lightning (per the instructions). Here's another episodic style that you can see, and maybe integrate the maps and the book art. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5_We3yMd7Z1r7Msi=fxmrNE_9IKhsmuPA

Looks nice, very colourful, and entirely 5th edition specific. Not much use outside of the 5th edition game in my opinion. If you seek a 'mega dungeon' outside of 5th edition there are other good choices.

OK, Here is my solution for Scarlet Citadel and it's first "PHASE" Criticism: So much text you can't really use. In many of the rooms there are descriptions... That's good. But then there are huge parts in each room where it's talking about historical background and explainer information on why things are the way they are. Basically you almost CAN'T use that information, unless you give your players some special divination home brew item, like a Professor Orb from IceWind Dale. Even if you give that information- it mostly never comes into effect on the present events of the players. I am only half way into the book so my opinion may change. JOY: The maps are made in sections and if you go with one zone at a time you can run these as episodes that can be added to a running campaign. So, the Serial Killer can be one episode and the Crypt can be another, the Mad Scientist (Ooze version, not time version) is an outstanding one night dungeon (Just over 5 rooms). The Next level under that can be run as a crazy giant 3 section map raid just by itself. That one is a HUGE - multi phase fortrace invasion scenario - to be used as the lower floor of any fortification.

It’s a beautiful book, great art, amazing battle mats, but. . .a lot of work to run! Some room descriptions run over multiple pages, no bullet points, quite often hard to find the information you want! I wouldn’t run it again, I wish I could recommend it.
