Tinky's mum isn't donning her winter coat - it seems a pregnancy at her advanced age didn't do her physiology a lot of good ! Look, who's there ?

I usually, almost all the time verifies information I hear or read if it's possible. That said I have to admit that a fact I going to mention here I haven't verified, yet. I do know why because it was a MD and a nurse (experts) telling me and a few other this 15 years ago when we met. It usually don't hold me back, I check the truth anyway if it can 😁. First a little background. Humans and Rhesus Macaques are quite close related. Our common ancestry lived 25 million years ago. Alongside Chimpanzees and Humans, Rhesus Macaques are the first primate who've got their DNA genome sequenced and the first Old World monkey to have its DNA deciphered. The three primate species share about 93 percent of their DNA but there are some differences among their genes. Having the three primates genome sequenced and the DNA deciphered means they have three reference points while studying similarities and differences between them. Because rhesus macaques are so close to us they're considered being great lab animals and are used in so many researches. It's drive me crazy thinking about it and it makes me so sad but now to why I've written so lengthy is that 15 years ago the MD and the nurse told me that when humans don't get enough nutrition the first thing the body do is to redirect the resources it usually gives hair and nails because it's not important to the humans survival. For rhesus macaques it's different. Their fur is a little bit more important but I've seen rhesus macaques living with their summer coats during big part of the winter and survived. It doesn't mean they don't might struggle a lot to survive. I don't know about that but I'm guessing. So, Tracey who probably doesn't have mange or some other vermins (something wild rhesus macaques don't get) could be late to have her winter coat because giving birth to a baby and a boy in addition (females create more energy dense milk for boys than for girls) where a lot of her energy goes to create milk for Tinky. Maybe we humans and rhesus macaques isn't that different regarding fur/hair and nails "health" reasons. 🤓🏴☠️🇸🇪

I noticed that too and thought it was impressive that a young male was so attentive over a baby, even trying to pick Tinky up and carry him a couple times. Arroz called Spotty Tracy's niece, but I thought he was a he and went back to check, and sure enough he's got a pair of dingleberries. Spotty just won some brownie points with me, sweet boy. I guess Tracy doesn't have any older daughters to help her? Sure would be helpful since she's an older mom and babies require a lot of energy and attention. Let's hope Spotty sticks around her. Or I'm sure there are many young females who would love to help, or even Rudy (better than Bolly or Dy!).

Animals are really clever. What is really neat is when a human can tell what the animal is asking or telling. Not all people are attuned to animals. You read the monkeys really well and I love it. The people that carry big sticks to keep the monkeus away have no idea what jot they are missing. You, on the other hand are helping us get through the quarantine. Who can be sad when we know we have cute baby monkeys to watch. Thank you. Stay safe.

Having watched your for video's some time, this is actually a troop that really needs a bit more investigating since they have periodically taken an absence from a area with a known supplemental food source for periods of time before, but usually a great deal shorter periods than five or more weeks. Lets face it with any primate food is in the top places on their list of needs: food, more food, any food, did I mention food? They are either foraging or eating or both unless asleep. and will other social things such as grooming either with one eye out for forage to grab while grooming or while masticating awat on what's in the cheek pouch. There i very little other than more or better food that would keep them away from a known and routine source of food for long at all and the disappearances that seem to come shortly after birthing season have seemed to get longer year after year. So I wonder if they have learned of a place that will provide abundant food, even if just for a short period, but gives them food without much or any competition, such as a lot of leavings in an area that has a food source havesteed - maybe orchards that they have found worth traveling and visiting or some other harvest. What if anything would be going on for at least a week or even more, and has a bit of travel distance. We have had troop absence themselves during a harvest season and actually follow the harvest for several weeks getting not only great sources of foods but sources of foods that they would normally not get, just by moving into fields or orchards that have been harvested and they feast on broken, dropped, discarded harvest as well as stems and leaves that are by products of harvest as not for human consumption but are good foods and feed for primates.

Well, an older mom having a late in the season baby, Tracy is going to be deficient in in many of the vitamins and minerals taht a primate needs when shedding a coat and growing a new one, and with a six week old baby she is still having to give almost all she eats into milk production to support baby. "Meals on Wheels" may give foods, like bread, that make them feel full but then the end up foraging les for the foods to fill up on that give them what they really need. She does seem to be concentrating on the beans and peanuts, so her body is driving her to the right foods but think about what new moms really are eating when they birth an infant early in a baby season. Just natural forag would be providing them more fruits and berries and young shoots, all of which are packed with vitamins and Tracy just has not of that available, The best thing for her, so she is not freezing come cold weather would be to get supplemental fruits and yams and some leavy veggies..
