As a soap maker I can tell you there are problems that need to be worked out. It will be difficult to get the last 1/4 of shampoo out of bottle. You can't squeeze the "bottle" as it will break. The soap will unevenly melt and the soap part will end up in many small frustrating pieces. That metal ring will be of no help. When soap doesn't dry, it will melt, it won't take long for it to melt from inside out and possibly while there is still much shampoo inside that hollow soap bar. As another person said in their comment, it may work as a replacement in motels and hotels, only 2- 3 uses.... maybe. Still going to deal with same problems. *Here's you're answer, when's it's a natural soap, soap is soap. Get a gentle soap bar that's make to be used as shampoo ànd body soap. It's the same product. Even if the shampoo somehow didn't cause the soap to dissolve from the inside out or the water causing it to dissolve outside in from wet hands etc, you still have the issue of a bar of soap lasts way longer than a bottle of shampoo so you'll reasonably quickly end up stock piling empty soap/shampoo bottles. I see a few problems with this personally: First is the low capacity, at only 100 ml this will only last a few washes at best, especially for those with thick or long hair. Second is the container itself, since it’s made of soap it’ll well dissolve as it’s intended, unfortunately this means if it’s left in a wet place like for say a shower it can dissolve and weaken the container and use up its lifespan as an actual soap bar potentially leading to it cracking open when squeezed to get shampoo out or even cause holes that cause the shampoo to drain out. Lastly is the likely hard to recycle (at least for most) metal cap and (probably nylon) cord, unfortunately due to recycling laws at least here in the US certain materials specifically plastic based cordage and pretty much any metal that’s not aluminum are hard to recycle easily if at all, meaning this is at best going to end up as wishcycling which is unfortunately common nowadays. If the cord is cotton and the cap turns out to be aluminum it’s possible that you could recycle at least the cap but the cord would still most likely end up in the trash since materials like cotton are unable to be placed in normal recycling containers. If I’ve made any errors or you have any points you’d like to make feel free to leave them in the replies, anyways thanks for reading! :)

Ok?? The molds used to make the soap are reused it’s not like they are using plastic molds and throwing them out after every use. They are reusing the molds plus hand carving would cause a lot of water soap scraps and would not be easy to produce.
@graceroth30456 ай бұрын
That is amazing! But, inevitably there’s going to be a problem with shipping packaging. Hopefully they’d use that plastic that composts easily. Then the soap bar would still be useful because you still still would need another container once you have the product in your bathroom

Quick tip: Shampoo is basically the same thing as soap. If you're interested in being eco-friendly or just saving money, use shampoo as a 2-in-1 for soap.

What if a hole is dissolved on one side of the bottle

But if you keep it at side of the bathtub when you go to take a shower the bottle will get wet and dissolve

this kind of products cost 3x of typical plastic ones, thats why its hard to support sustainability

My guess is that because this soap bar container would have been biodegradable, the liquid inside would dissolve the bar from the inside during transportation and while in stock, waiting to be sold. This would be very hard to fill up to the brim because of the slanted corner, so an air pocket (space for liquid to move around) would be unavoidable.

So if you use the shampoo first... As you're supposed to.... Won't it come in contact with water before it's suppose to? Or are people expected to dry their hands each time they pour out the shampoo?
@anniecahill52144 ай бұрын
I really enjoy it but I feel like while they're being stored before selling you'd have to make sure they don't get wet and stuff. Or imagine walking home with groceries(I walk its not far building myself up physically by doing it too) and I put stuff into a bad together so like thr condensation from something that's probably been refrigerated or frozen will inevitably condensate which causes moisture. By the time I get home I've got a sticky shampoo’d soapy mess. So unless they're packaged in a certain way that doesn't allow them to get wet without pollution still these would be useless for some people like myself it would cause more messes and waste. If done right this would be something I'd look for in other products too.

Wtf why not just use a soap stick at this point? What's the purpose of the liquid? You could just fill all of that extra space with more solid soap.

what happens if the bottle gets wet from the water? does it eventually get thinner? if you drop it does it break? its pretty cool though!

No waste? So you keep the metal loop and string? It's it mold proof?
@DKF_oli4 ай бұрын
doesn’t make sense. you can’t squeeze it, and handling it with wet hands would make the ‘container’ dissolve as you were using it, possibly before the shampoo is done (though it doesn’t look like it holds much anyway), so it would leak out the bottom or sides..?
@MadMaddie7695 ай бұрын
it literally will empty out in the shower if the soap cracks, bar soap tends to crack.

Energy consumption to produce the metal and woven cotten, plus transport from different manufacturers and for different raw materials sourcing likely will be greater than a singular plastic construction. However yes, likely longterm environmental chemicals from heating plastics.

How could you possibly keep it dry enough to have it last very long? The moisture from the shower and hands would make it slimy and disintegrate.
