If this is a Sheldonless show... In the absence of Sheldon, Sheldon's original roommate would still be living in the apartment, Leonard was apartment hunting at the time. Then the trio (Leonard, Howard, and Rajesh) might be dead or jailed due rocket fuel explosion in the apartment. The elevator would still be ALIVE... uhm... functional. Penny might get married to Leonard's roommate. In case of good fortune they're still alive and free, the only way the trio can complete the D.o.D.'s gyroscope project was to enlist Barry Kripky's help on the equation. (And Penny may still get married to Leonard) Howard may still marry Bernadette. They never met Amy.

Given that Howard's mom did die in the show, he still would have gone through that tragedy. The difference being he wouldn't have had his loving wife to be there for him. He would have gotten the house, but probably just turned into a sad broken man. His home a shrine to his mother, never changing anything bc it would have been too painful. He wouldn't have dated bc he would never know if the woman would have lived up to his mother's approval, also eww who wants a sad broken Mama's boy who has memorialized the home to her post mortem. Raj or Stuart might have moved in, but ultimately Howard is still a sad broken man. Not sure if meeting Sheldon really made a difference as it was Penny who introduced Bernadette to him, but Bernadette, his wife and mother of his two kids! She certainly made a difference!

Sheldon did make a difference if you think about it. Without Sheldon there would be no Leonard and Penny, and without Leonard in the equation then there would be no Leonard asking Penny to introduce a friend (Bernadette) to Howard. So I do think he had an impact in this situation however indirect it was.

Depends who you asked. Stan Lee has been accused of taking credit from others at Marvel like Jack Kirby. Most of the stories where you can say with 100% he wrote (his stuff from the 2000s) is not that good. I've noticed that non Americans watch a lot of American shows and movies and think that's how Americans really act. I would never talk to my parents like that, nor do I know anyone who would do that, nor have I seen anything like that in real life. Don't get me wrong, there's PLENTY of negative things about our culture, but shows and movies often portray super unrealistic things. This is what I always hated about Howard's character. He pretty much had an antagonistic relationship with his own mother and wishes she was dead and when she actually does die he goes all 180 saying he misses and loves his mom sooo much. Maybe when she was alive and he was kinder to her I could take him missing her after her passing, but after years of "wishing she was dead" joke, yeah, I cannot take his repentant loving son attitude, even if it was a joke. I'm probably going to get a lot of hate for putting that comment.

I don't think it was really antagonistic. They yelled at each other all the time but their actual behaviour towards each other was quite close and loving - she took care of him and his friends, gave him his favourite foods, he helped her when she needed it, kept her company, and so on. Their love language was clearly acts of service, and I think they both knew not to take each other's words seriously. Both of them insulted each other a lot, but none of their arguments or complaints had any real heat, and that also applies to him wishing she were dead.
