In today's explore, we venture inside of this flooding 90's Dream Home! Set to be demolished, this property valued at around 6 million dollars sits in rough shape. From the outside, it seems like any other home. Once you take a closer look, you'll notice heavy condensation on the windows. Inside it is obvious that a pipe froze and burst, causing a massive water leak. Water can be heard rushing out at an alarming rate anywhere in the homes that you are. It seems that a pipe connected to the bathtub bust and is now causing the main level and basement of the home to flood. The entire home is being affected by this and water can be seen everywhere, the blinds, behind the paint, and even upstairs. The home was a beautiful place in its prime with an awesome staircase, nice trims, and beautiful wood flooring.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to turn the main water valve off, many of the basement doors are locked and I'm assuming the utility room is one of them.

This is I think the 2nd time I have seen this house. Maybe the 3rd. What strikes me, as a person who lives in drought struck California, is the amount of water waste from that water being allowed to pour from the ceiling. I asked my husband if he would make it his responsibility to get that water turned off. He said, "absolutely!" At a minimum, call the water company & tell them anonymously about the problem. Caring about the planet starts right here in situations we encounter everyday. (I hope the water is off by now.)

It seems to be in a rural area so my guess is that the issue is that the electricity is still turned on. They likely have a well so once the pipe burst there was in effect an open faucet so it will just keep pumping. If it helps any from a waste point of view it is being pumped upstairs and then filtering down to the basement where it will eventually soak back into the ground. Where ever the water enters the house there is a shut off valve so it would be easy to stop if they find the utility room or find the circuit breaker box and turn the main breaker off. My guess is that the electricity is on so some lights are on and it does not look abandoned but they never physically check on it.

Me too!! I asked my husband what he thought about it. He happens to be a journeyman plumber and he told me if he went inside and saw that, he would absolutely shut it off too. Rather than just leave it. All the wasted water is such a shame!! 💧

Oh Noah!! What a terrible, rotten shame, this poor home! I love this house, everything from the glass blocks right on up to the chandeliers, (especially the entryway and the chandelier thats hanging over the staircase in the kitchen. I LOVE ❤️ the master bedroom, so much room! The basement is also awesome, just a wonderful home. Thank you for trying to turn off the water, you are so nice my friend! Thank you for sharing this beautiful home, I wish that I seen it under better circumstances. 😢

As someone who pays $1450 a month for a measly 2 bedroom apartment this is honestly appalling. An entire house abandoned when a responsible homeowner would have had a method to shut off the water main to the house and insurance to fix it? This is just depressing.

If it is on a private well the power should be off to stop the pump. If it is on a municipal water grid the water department should have shut it off from the bill not being paid.

If it's on a private well, all you needed to do is shut off all the electrical breakers at the main. Pump won't work without power.

This is very 1980s does art deco revival to me. A lot of money was spent on this place. It's amazing to me how fast things can be ruined.

It's crazy to think a house will fill right up and the water will come out the front door, it happened to an abandoned house near to where I used to live. Something a lot of people don't know, in a situation like this where the water is being wasted, the water company will actually go after the owner for the property for wasted water the same applies to electricity. This place is most likely slated for demolition but I'm surprised they didn't turn off the water to stop squatters.

Thx Noah for getting your feet wet to investigate, its to cone to our attention this house was turned into a Business maybe Airbnb as no private residence would have signs such as private on their doors, typical signs on doors might be Bens Room or Suzeys fairyroom not Private, bathroom etc…. Its shit how the owners or the developer couldn’t give a brass razzu about water wastage when on the other side in Africa Children are dieing from no water or dirty polluted well water. Thx for trying maybe theres a outside mains water thingo. But definitely that place will be mould and mildew come spring.

not a case of a frozen water pipe its an insurance scam or some scumbag destroying the place (water is coming from the sink which is why the handles gone (i always have my leatherman which has pliers so i couldve shut it off) and its going through the floor (if it was the tub water would be leaking alot more) you also completely skipped some doors down below (its more likely insurance fraud as the utility door is locked waters turned on and handle from the sink is stolen )

the water coming from sink was going down the drain. It was on to try and keep pipes from bursting, but obviously didn't work.
