I was pondering a perspective that I was telling a coworker who is an alcoholic and not religious. I told him you are the king of an uncountable amount of living cells inside of your body. You have duties in your position of power that your kingdom of cells depends on your for. And when he ended up in the hospital for pancreatitis I told him he neglected his duties as king and the villagers of the town called Pancreas rose up with pitch forks and rebelled against him. LOL He looked at it as a joke, but I try to utilize the perspective myself to counter my own rationalizations concerning healthy habits.

@@DivineLightPaladin The funny thing was he was one of those kind of people who have that knee jerk reaction against any advice he felt connected to religious thought, but was a good dude. And that perspective evolved from me attempting to transpose by allegory the kind of little wisdom parables we got as children in the stories at Bible school. His vodka problem got transposed into a couple different versions of God, Noah, and the flood LOL.

@@patkearney9320 Thanks, every time I think from the perspective it really seems to have a strong ring of truth that I didn't initially expect.... But I have a back ground in abstract thinking from a strong interest in mythology and alchemy. Which the "as above so below, inside as outside" kinda of thought is pretty prevalent in Alchemy and Hermetic philosophy. But you would be surprised how well it also aligns to many Biblical trains of thought. Your body is the temple after all :)

Rabbi, is it bad to smoke weed at night just before bed to help with sleep due to the fact I suffer with pain from the injuries I received during my time in the Army. It seems to help with the nightmares. I never use it during the day, and I never drive after smoking due to the fact it interferes with my concentration and is as dangerous as drinking and driving. I no longer drink only a small shot glass of low content wine at bedtime for my heart. Do you think GOD will forgive me for the 2 things I do?

Since I was 13 years old, I’ve smoked a lot of cannabis. From 2020 to 2021, I’d go through an ounce every week - costing me over $1k a month. I stayed high all day everyday. My Jewish PCP was disgusted with me when I showed up stoned at an appointment - barely able to talk to her. I realized I was missing out on experiences and forming memories with my wife, and most importantly, I wasn’t spending quality time with Hashem / God. It made me paranoid. My lungs hurt. I developed a few nodules in both lungs - possibly precancerous or non-malignant tumors. One of my Jewish doctors proclaimed my usage wasn’t kosher. These revelations, coupled with the amount I was spending on it made me quit. I now enjoy a natural high. And I spend more time in Torah. Everyone is happier to be around me.

As a petson with 12 years sobriety from alcohol, and who has chronic psin due to scoliosis, degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis and osteoarthritis and who has a prescription for cannabis i find people who equate alcohol with cannabis as ignorance. I used to defend my drinking as well. I am grateful i am able to get skne relief with one ounce of a plant. To Thine Own Self Be True!

Marijuana alters whether you accept it or not. 'Equating it' is ridiculous. They are not the same. The chemical fig.ula isn't the same. Nevertheless, an angry person can be angrier smoking pot. Or their hidden anger may be exposed. Similarly to alcohol. There is no "formula" for the effects of intoxicants or stimulants, since each individual biochemistry is different.

I was a pothead until I did Teshuvah and decided to convert to Judaism after being a Noahide for two years after 49 years of christianity. One evening, I was watching a video of Rabbi Tovia Singer about quitting smoking. That night, I woke up in the middle of the night and literally could not breathe. I was suffocating and had no other choice but to get out of bed, face east, raise my arms to HaShem and plead for air. I was on the verge of dying and HaShem saved me. The next day, I threw away my weed, grinder, rolling papers, lighters...anything to do with weed I put in a bag and tossed it out into the garbage. Ever since, I have not smoked weed and at the same time I also quit alcohol and caffeine as well. I was a pothead for thirty years, smoking daily, spending ridiculous amounts of time and money on weed. I now realize that weed was my biggest idol. I spent all of that time and money on the ritual of buying weed, grinding it, smelling it, rolling it, smoking it, and would often waste seed because of it. I had a medical prescription for it so I didn't think that it was a sin. Now I realize that anything can become an idol, be it weed or alcohol, wasting seed, watching sports, surfing the web with no purpose, watching uselss videos/movies/dramas/comedy shows, listening to secular music, or even playing excessive amounts of online chess which I did for three hours a day every day for decades. I am so thankful to HaShem for giving me the near-death experience that made me quit weed. I knew that if I did not quit immediately, I would certainly die very soon and be punished for it in gehinnom. My advice to anyone that is currently hooked on weed is to pray to HaShem to be released from the curse of this idol. HaShem will respond and when you are clean, as I am now, you will thank Him for the life, vitality, mental focus and clarity, the ability to remember, have proper dreams when asleep, and overall alertness and mood stability. All drugs, even caffeine, is a danger as it creates dependency at the least, and death at larger doses. Without my caffeine addiction now, I feel 100 times more alert even when I wake up. As a caffeine addict, I simply could not function without my morning and afternoon coffee. When Moshiach ben David is here, i believe that the healing leaves of the trees watered by the springs that gush forth from Temple Mount, Yerushalayim will be the only things we will use for healing. No more pharmaceuticals, no more opium/cocaine/magic mushrooms, and certainly no more cannabis smoking.

I once saw a sign that said "Drugs may not lead you down the right path, but at least they take the scenic route". After watching this, I would like to add my perspective: While it's fun to take the scenic route, don't ever lose sight of the path or you may get lost and turned around, or you may be looking at the scenery and drive off a cliff (literally or figuratively). So, while I have regularly taken the scenic route with Mary Jane , it's always been with the knowledge that it is an experience, a tool for enlightenment and self examination or a tool for your destruction. You're the one holding that tool, so use it wisely is all I'm trying to say. Peace

Sadhguru has advice surrounding marijuana. He says it is being used as a substitute for what you would already have when you allow your brain to produce soothing chemicals. The use of drugs dulls and ultimately destroys your senses and abilities over time. It appears to be beneficial at first, but then, if not controlled (and I recommend not using at all) will damage not only our physicality, but your psychology as well. The only way to really enjoy life is to abstain from these unnecessary "additives", whose effects can be achieved otherwise through meditation and exercise.

Is incredible how some people are just really different. In my youngest days yes i have experimented a few dabs just a few times ,but never had the enjoyment like them , i only wanted to do it becauee i wanted to have a sense of belonging to my friends, but truthfully i never liked the effects of it not even alcohol, i just never had a natural inclination to any time of mind altering things , i hae always hated all kind of mind altering things ,never liked the effect it had on my awareness and consciousness . Ive been surrounded by so many endless drug fiends my whole life ,but i just learned to accept that am different, luckily some of the friends didn't mind that i was so boring becauee i didn't do none of the things or partake on none of their drugs at parties or hangouts. It always pushed me to a loner ,I always preferred to be alone and learned to pick up habits that would keep me occupied, guitar, learning, studying things , i always kept busy doing other things it was mostly learning things , oh boy i truly had the joy of my life learning i had my own girlfriends and wornen around, did my thing with them once fulfilled, i no longer had sexual urges so i dedicated the rest of my time just studying and learning things . How to fix cars , guitars, computers, electrical things , Torah, Torah was a major component always , but i just loved learning so much ,i was younger back then i had all i needed ,and was satisfied. As long as alll my basic needs are covered and no have any lingering stress of financial issues , i was always studying, that was when i was living with my mother, but then i moved in with my wife , ,there is so much stress dealing as a man to cover all our personal finances. If im lucky i keep up studying and learning but hate to be reminded of the duties i have to fullfill. It completely distracts me from focusing peacefully on my ongoing studies . I hate that i have to worry about that . My only wish is having 10 million dollars on my bank account and have guaranteed financial coverage and by then i can peacefully focus on whatever is ongoing on my mind to keep studying and learning things each day . Boy i just love learning ,it gives me so much pleasure and joy . But life circumstances make it hard for me to be at peace and focused on my whatever is my soul desiring to learn each day . So many people out there don't understand why i like to be alone . When im alone im not distracted by anything. I think clearly , focus better on whatever im learning or thinking to understand and learn. My number one hobby is truthfully learning. But I'm always learning whatever at the moment i feel like and inspired to learn . Is so many subjects and wide range of things ,is not solely narrowly focused on one subject is very wide and broad . I mean that's all i ever do. I don't know why i enjoy this but , i love learning, everything i know im self taught. But what makes it exciting is the fact that there is always something new to discover and learn ,is an endless journey. That's why is never boring nor lose its luster. It sucks that life gets in the way . Having a guaranteed income for life without having to work and cover all my basic expenses for life is the dream for . Having to wake up everyday to worrk , be tired all the time , stress out ,just doesn't cut it for me can't focus on studying the things I'm inspired esch day on my life . Too many haters out there , too many chimps out there harassing me , envious, jealous, power tripping, whatever agendas they have . This world is not cutting out for me to be relaxed and peaceful to focus better on my passion. I just love learning . I makes me feel complete and fulfilled. Then i share what i know with whoever wants to listen. Always in the hopes of making life better for my listeners. That's all i ever do,and yet so much hatred from so many people . This world doesn't deserve me. I came here with a mission to do good and everyone else comes here to shut off my light.

I had to deal with narcissism a lot out of necessity. I found that this personality disorder has nothing to do with whether someone is a believer, an atheist, a Muslim, a Jew, or a Christian. It is as if the disorders related to our personality are completely outside our religious convictions. One of the symptoms of narcissism is a low or complete lack of self-reflection. Low level of emotional intelligence. A kind of fixed thinking that excludes everything else. However, how could the affected people be helped without this?

Marijuana can help facilitate better mental and emotional balance and maturity but narcissism seems strangely unaffected. Particularly if alcohol is a significant component. Alcohol is narcissistic steroid. Carrion eaters may also suffer significant night mares in the process. The best defense is our attitude of gratitude.

What are 3 personality traits that are closely related to addiction? No single personality type sets someone up for addiction, but there are a few personality traits common among people who have a substance use disorder: an inability to handle stress, impulsivity, unaccountability and a lack of empathy. People with narcissistic personality disorders share similar traits with addicts, and both types of narcissistic personality disorder may lead to addiction. Just adding to Brother Manis point.

No offense my bro but you don't appear to be a critical thinking but rather simple minded and easily influenced. You might want to consider growing up. I think you make Narcissism a bit shallower that it really is. What is really about is a disturbance in a human being who feels entitled to using other people and manipulate them to do stuff for the Narcissist and if someone has a bit of free will to object, the Narcissist is trying to destroy the other person because it does not understand that someone can have a different opinion. Here is the real problem and it does bot matter too much if this Narcissist is stoned or not. It is disturbed in the same way. Perhaps a stoned Narcissist at least is not plotting against others. Problem with drugs is if other nature. People think that escaping into a drug or alcohol will make them happy, but it really makes them a bit stupid dor a while so they could forget about their problems. Happiness is when you find it inside and you will not find it in external substances. This us what I believe is true. 🙏

When I moved to a new community, I bought some so I would have it. None of my friends used it. It sat in my freezer for a year, before I gave it away to some young men down the street who were not friends, but I knew they used it. This was a long time ago. I haven’t used it since.
