How's she goin'? Ben I'm not too sure if you have seen any of my videos where I weld. It ain't pretty buddy!! I have a stick welder and a flux core welder too. But I don't have much luck with either one. My issue is I can't see the puddle when I weld. I have tried glasses, lenses, lighter shades, darker shades and nothing seems to work. When I watch videos on how to weld, the buddy will say 'watch you puddle and keep it moving along your weld line." If I could see a puddle I bet I could do that!! LOL I need to practice more too. I had plans to practice but this summer has been a write off for me as far as getting anything of note done in the shop or on the property. Thanks for watching. Take 'er easy!!

Good morning Mike. We'll that explains a lot. Ever since I discovered your channel I have been thinking Mike must weld because he can do everything else. Electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry and wood working and a bunch of other stuff I am sure I missed. It must be frustrating not to be able to see the puddle. How's she goin'? I know one thing Kenny, being able to take fuel to the machine will be a whole lot more practical than having to take the machine to the fuel!! And if I can get this dolly set up so I can do that, with minimal spillage, well then grab yourself another wobble pop and have a seat eh! LOL Take 'er easy!!

Don't doubt how Great Gear Clamps are. I attached a motor on a horizontal bandsaw with 2 large clamps and it work perfect and never came loose being used in a professional steel fab shop for hundreds of hours.

Hey Mike, You would think you have a private parts yard somewhere close by. Must have, the camp is just too tidy to have all these things out in the open, LOL. This is a great post on thirds. They are all over. The 2 triangles above and below (the front legs?) the handle mount and where the upper handle conects to the lower. 3 is used all over our world. Mechanicly as strong and stable as possible. I like the gear clamps. As long as it doesn't get twisted from being over tightened they will serve you well. If they do get twisted your not too much out of pocket. Yer looking good fella. A winner for sure. It makes for a nice dolly too.

@@GrampiesWorkshop When at a time when I Was learning for being a general type mechanic my grand father taught me all about #3. I use it in most things now.Inhearantly strong and stable. Check out the pyramids. They are full of #3. They are all really based on my favorite number. When fabricating most things I base them with 3 being the background to work from.

I wasn't too sure how to deal with that, but then this solution just sort of popped it head up and Voila, it's all good now! LOL Take 'er easy!!

Salut Luc!! That's not a bad idea for the swivel wheels. But I want to be able to take it around the property and it's pretty rough and rocky in spots and I'm not too sure how well the swivel wheels would work. With the shorter handle I think tipping the dolly will work out OK since it doesn't tip that much. Good idea though. I like the way you think! LOL Bonjour a Kathleen et a bientot!!!

I think I rather like the longer handle as it would tend to give me greater leverage...at least for me. As with most anything, it is a preference thing as the shorter on works too. Hope you both are keeping well, especially in all of this humidity we have been having for most of the summer pretty well. I am sure looking forward to the fall, and Otis too as I am hoping his breathing will be a whole lot better with the cooler temperatures. Take care and enjoy the rest of the week.

How's she goin'? Well Bruce with the long handle is sure makes it easier to move the dolly, but I am concerned about it being tipped so much and possibly spilling fuel!! It sure has been a hot and muggy summer eh. I have been kind of lucky as I haven't been out much, what with tending to Nannie all summer. Ernesto and his rain, heat and humidity have certainly been stifling. Sorry to hear Otis is bothered with the humidity and it affecting his breathing. You know, if you put a motor in place of the gas cans and a blade underneath, you could cut grass with this thing. You're keeping us guessing, Mike and the suspense is really interfering with my schedule. All the day, I stop and think, "What will Mike do with the handle?", "What will the final product look like?" and at night when it keeps be awake I think "Will it ever really be finished?" So the mystery persists. I hope it's done soon though, so I can get a full night's sleep!

Hi. I have been pro grampie's work shop since i found you. however... I have a john deere same size as your tractor for 7 years and a ride on like you have for 15 years and have both gas and diesel. I have not had any reason to need a fuel cart ever. containers I put in back of truck go fuel them return slide off tailgate into garage on shelf next to garage door, when I use tractors I do pretrip fuel and oil I drive next to cans and use the pump like you have and fill them up. If you stored the cans in the plastic garage it would be safe. also a over hang with a roof like your big diesel tank but more accessible would have been another way.

How's she goin'? Well Jim it is so nice to hear you are a fan of the channel I really appreciate that and I hope you comment more often in the future!! I hear ya about fueling from the fuel cans if they are placed in a good spot. But part of my problem is with some of my equipment, I can't get it to the fuel station. Like my generator for example. It's not mobile so I have to fuel it by lifting the jerry can and pouring in the fuel and 9 times out of 10 I end up spilling some. So because of this I thought a mobile fuel dolly might be a good idea. Thanks again for all your support Jim. Take 'er easy!!

@@GrampiesWorkshop never thought of generator far away from storage area. my generator is wheeled outside of garage next to door I wheel it to the cans first. however we live close to city where power goes out maybe 2 times a year and no more than 3 hours at a time.

@@jiimpowers5078 We lose power a lot. My genny is in the shed and it's a heavy old thing and getting it in and out of the shed, even once a year for service, is a job for 2 men and a Newfoundland dog so I tend to leave it in the shed and bring the fuel to it. Thanks for commenting.

hi me again. I got a question. my wife stick vacuum power head broke so I hooked up a hose for sump pump to the vacuum and wow what a loud whine from it , too loud to use. could it be because the pipe is ribbed inside? where do i get one not ribbed? anyone have a solution? thanks mike.

How's she goin'? I'm not too sure if the ribbed hose is the causing for the wine, but it could be. Maybe the ribs are making an excessive load on the vacuum since the air doesn't flow up the hose as smoothly as it did on a straight smooth pipe. The extra load on the vacuum could be making it howl. Have you tried looking for a piece of plastic tubing? I have seen tubing like this in hardware stores. An RV dealer may have some tubing too that might be the right size. Just a thought. Good luck with the repair and I hope you can track down what is causing the noise!! Take 'er easy!!
