His Eminence the 8th Chokyong Palga Rinpoche (born 1984) is a philosopher and a tulku of the Drukpa (Dragon) lineage of Tibetan Buddhism.[1] Rinpoche was born amid various apparently miraculous and auspicious omens, such as multiple rainbows with light drizzle on a clear day, and being completely covered in amniotic membrane (caul), with his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck multiple times, like a white silk scarf (considered a very auspicious symbol by the people of Himalayan kingdoms).
In late November 2009, Rinpoche decided to travel and teach for a while. He went to Hua-Hin, Thailand, at the invitation of a dear friend, and spent 10 days teaching, mainly introducing his audiences to the Mahayana and Vajrayana path. Rinpoche then left for Germany and Greece for 2 months from the 2nd of December till the 4th of February, where he taught in many cities and towns, including Berlin, Hamburg, Saarbrücken, Mannheim in Germany, and Thessaloniki and Athens in Greece. His teachings were well received by all and was re-invited not only by the centres where he taught, but also by centres in 5 other European countries. Rinpoche spent 3 months in his main seat in Zigar Monastery in Tsopema, from February till April, mainly studying ancient texts and reading books, and doing the occasional practice.
