A Short Explanation of Tower of Fantasy's History! I wasn't going to cover this game because the opening cut scenes were kinda meh, but then I read deeper and found the human experiments and I'm like...you know what.....

You did a better job explaining the game's story than the game manages to. That's awesome and kind of sad for the writers. Also considering how little the devs seem to care about spoiling their own plot points (/stares at "Nemesis" >.>), you shouldn't feel to bad about spoiling anything either.

I was okay with the semi cold open they did, but then I started exploring the UI, then played for like two hours…and I couldn’t understand wtf the simulacrum is for, why do i bother customizing my character if i have simulacra i can use, who tf are the simulacra, what’s energy suppressor for…. Etc. genshin just did an amazing job guiding you through the story and lore WHILE deepening the gameplay. This literally just plopped you into the world with everything unexplained. I feel like the simple guide prompts from genshin made all the difference. If i didn’t know genshin or basic gacha elements, i wouldn’t have understood the wish/special order mechanics. As annoying as Paimon can get, it was a great way to introduce the player to the world and gameplay.

Open world gacha games have come such a long way. Tower of fantasy seems promising. In the future, I hope developers continue to innovate. I would love to see different art styles instead of just anime.

Doesn't appeal to me. I prefer Wuthering waves better or if you like ToF because it's MMO. Wait for Blue Protocol that game will break the world.

I found myself really liking the blend of art styles, like Borderlands and TWD sketch art style with PSO2 and FF styles. I am into it.

ToF has a lot going for it. The story is cliche and takes inspiration from so many other games, but it has charm. The focus on combat is nice and feels like it is closer to what MMO is. It's just that they need to hire a new voice director for the EN dubbing, they have such a talented cast but there are times where it just fall flat or are just voiced awkwardly to the situation.

I wish the story wasn't so rushed, though. Seeing the girl (I forgot her name already, her character didn't give me any lasting impressions) die and her sibling to go find a cure for her circumstance felt so rushed as there was no proper tension or close relationship that was built up over the story. I hope this issue gets sorted and the story fleshes out more as we play, but I already deleted the game for how aimless it felt and the engagement didn't last as long as I hoped it would.

ToF's story reminds me a lot of Lost Ark in terms of quality. Off putting in the beginning but I make myself read in case it gets better...and it doesn't. It stays the same level of meh to bad, but I just get more annoyed as it goes on because it tries to create emotional/cinematic moments that it hasn't earned. Open world exploration is fun for now when there's not much else to play.

actually the way the story starts ,it totally made it so uninteresting for me, i mean i get that the mc has amnesia sort of but he dosent even have any alternative motive to help anyone, it jst throws it into action without any character momment, tbh i play genshin for story and characters personality , also after seeing the way zzz presents its story i felt it wasnt good enough for me,anyway game is enjoyable but ill play till the 3.0 only.

I'm definitely having fun with this game right now and the lore/story seems interesting enough at the moment. But hopefully it gets better because, I got an SSR character/weapon and the gameplay has become super easy for me atm so I'm here for story more than gameplay at the moment.

the thing that sucks about this game is how much did they rip off other games (they literally copied 1:1 3rd sacred relic from honkai) not talking about that "amber" copycat and that thing with them stealing ID's of ppl that died in a natural cataclysm also funny they paid ppl to literally copy paste comments from genshin reviews

Not sure what they did to Shirley to heal her but DAMN SHE GETS THICK! Kinda wish they had left a few things ambiguous cause … you can kinda see where the story is going even thou not much of it has been left out. Also, I don’t like at all how our character interacts with the story. Thou we barely complain seeing Tabibito with a dull blade despite being given a better sword so … meh. Also, I’m getting Dragon Raja ptsd with this game so I really hope the game doesn’t take the same course 😭😭😭

I dont really like the art although its also anime like Genshin. Maybe the Colour Scheme idk 🤔 Also just listening the Prologue of the Story in this Game, even summarized by Asters, makes me think it's hard to really get into... I feel like you get kinda thrown in and it doesn't really seem interesting. I might watch it if Aster makes more videos tho to see if the Story gets better.

Are the Heirs of Aida like IRL AQ (you know the org), or are they like FF7's AVALANCHE? Is Franz the Cid of ToF? How can he talk that way to an Archon? Why does he know so much and has that kind of English VA tone and manner of speaking suggesting a Rogue-ish archetype? :D Also, it's so hard to switch out of the muscle memory/mental paradigm of Genshin play mechanics during fights. I miss so many of the setups I use. But, as of 6 am PhST, I think I'm getting into it with a Hammer + Staff + Bow (which i will replace with dual pistols I get to draw them). The staff to build up Phantasia and deal with mooks. The hammer to break shields, especially when you do that Phantasia-based attack that comes from switching to a new weaapon. The ranged weapon is for dealing with stuff on towers :D And I didn't know the Phantasia "moment" is for dodging hahaha :D I use it to give enemies a beatdown :D

I'm happy to see you covering ToF, the story is pretty good. I noticed they have taken some inspiration from Honkai. Edit: did you know, Zhonglis VA voiced Franz. There are multiple characters are voiced by Childe's VA, then Eula's va also voiced one of the characters, i forgot her name (en voice-over)

The stories first arc is absolutely bad, not garbage just bad. This first arcalways existed on cn.....the crap they tried to pull is infuriating, shirli a grown woman acts far too childish and zeke. Oh Zeke...spat on the past history of others having to kill their family members by not killing shirli..while the past dead family members pictures are behind him. One of the many bad shit in the story....man I've never disliked so many characters in a game but ToF is getting up there

Things just escalated way too much for me to get attached to Zeke and Shirli. I feel like I hardly know the two and don't have much incentive to go after them. Shirli acting childish the whole time, and Zeke made the choice to leave his group to save sis without MC. It's so disrespectful for him to break one of the most important rules as the LEADER down there, really says something about his character. I'll give it a chance but I don't trust nobody in this story

@@saraifleming7483 it doesn't help that shirli got away with everything in the community. That lil robot spilled the beans on all she did and she got away scot free with all of them. Each villager was okay with her and she is just as old as the bartender GROWN woman with the only difference being 2 days a part. Shirli is a woman...but anyways Zeke asked her to do one thing JUST ONE thing and that is not to fuck with the ruins...while everything else he slide with her the one thing she couldn't do she did. Got angry at him for no reason and this made her the absolute worst character/mascot second to Zeke.

honestly, english voice acting is godlike compared to Genshin, it's awkward here and there yes, but it's not as bad The combat feels a bit sluggish, you can just attack once every 0.5 sec to constantly deal first hit in combo for spears/swords and obviously rarer weapons deal more damage, game is good but i hate how basically you will see your character clip through it's skirt on almost every move (I made ayaka btw)

Disagree. Genshin has way better voice acting in EN-you should listen to Raiden's story quest act II in English, literal goosebumps. Mistranslation aside, I think Genshin's EN voicing is way better than TOF's, especially since TOF's voicing isn't really in sync. (I prefer TOF than genshin combat-wise, though.)

Can you tell me why you got into ToF but not Honkai? I've been trying to convince you since your Fischl video last year to play through it, I've started subtle then started going more direct. its actually kinda disheartening, maybe you would've played Honkai had I not prodded you to do so, maybe not. ToF frustrates me as a Honkai player, because I think Genshin isn't all that great. I've constantly told you how much you are missing out in Honkai, so please tell me. What am I doing wrong?

Overhyping something can have the oppsite effect. Just "telling" doesn't work, neither in writing nor IRL You don't persuade people, you show the things that cause the persuasion, but it's hard to do that over the internet, with a game that you didn't create, with someone who's basically a stranger and who may not be interested in game suggestions. It's also an old gacha, and the kind of game that it's hard to pick up if you don't start early. Moreover, Honkai is hard to get into. I tried playing, but the first chapters come off as juvenile and uninteresting. Even if the story gets better later on, some people may not deem it worth the time sink.
