I like your vid. To me,a dutchman living in the Netherlands, Frans Hals is my favourite painter. Real portraits, like the ones you show in the streets or the subway. I think Hals is an impressionist avant la lettre.

4:20 "Beatrix" looks exactly like the self-portrait of Judith Leyster. Could they have been sisters? Leyster was a friend and contemporary of Hals (maybe student, maybe colleague) and her stuff and his was often confused.

I don't think you can say Hals was secular as we know it today, in fact his portraits are quite spiritual.
