Now he'll be able to glue that board to the wall to cover the holes he made for no reason. And he's got fancy caulking gun/ tape measure art to decorate it. In fact, once he glues all the other tools he made onto boards, he'll get a bunch of free Styrofoam when he orders new tools from Amazon to replace the ones he glued to the wall. Win/ win!

back in laos, during the secret war, our house was using corrugated tine for the roof... each time, rainwater would leak through. this practice, when you don't have a lot of things to seal stuff with, my dad would use car gasoline and dipping styrofoam and use it as a putty-like glue to mend stuff with. this would seal holes and whatnot.

Styro putty! Nice. Aparently Turpentine mixed with Styrofoam is similar to acetone too, plus in the above he mixed a lot of styrofoam into the acetone to make a glue, but if you mix much less styrofoam into the Acetone (or maybe turpentine too, never tried that one) it turns into something very similar to polyurethane. So a mix of scrap styrofoam and acetone might be able to protect wood for you in a similar way to polyurethane. Cabots Poly wood finish is $50 a litre here. Acetone is about $10 a litre. If turpentine works in a similar fashion as I suspect it would, that is about $5 a litre...

A little quick runthrough for those of you who don't have time to watch this: 1. Make napalm, slowly 2. Glue a gnome to some cardboard. 3. Glue your tools to a plank using napalm. 4. Smash some drywall with a strange custom spinning trident. 5. Glue some screw cap to a screw, and put some sandpaper on it. 6. Use this to awkwardly sand an old hammer. 7. Sharpen a piece of pipe, and use it to drill holes in a belt. Aaaaand we're done. Good work. Thumbs up.

I have to say you made me giggle, and I have no idea why. I just like the way your mind works. Lol I was over here like wtf is the purpose...how the heck you gonna caulk something now... 1. At first I thought he was getting ready for round two in nam... 2. Then realized he just wanted to see if any of us were stupid enough to think that tiny 3/4 inch of sandpaper would not be smooth as a babys fresh kissed bottom in half a nano second.. 3. But maybe the truth is he is about to go gi-jopsycho and the napalm is gonna take out half his city block and he intends to prove he has an iq of less than 75 and use it as his defence... like i am not smart enough to be accountable for making the mapalm that offed the block... 4. Here look I even glued my gluing gun to a bord that was sad and alone... 5. Then the glue gun got sad and the tape measure went over to lend peer support 6. Something must be done for these minority tools from 3 subgroups of the tool family. 7. The blacksheeps if you will. No one likes that hammer he is a bully always hitting on stuff. 8. That glue calk gun ..well, you can not get rid of his ass. Just run away when you see him coming unless you have 6 hours to talk about your digestive system being plugged up... 9. That poor little tape measure ...noone likes him because he just measures himself against everyone else, making excuses 1/8 inch at a time. It is just not fair. You got glued to the board, rendering yourself absolutely useless. I want to be useless this time. 10. It is the saddest of situations. Someone give them a hug. Set some therapy appointments and go lay in a toolbox talking about how the other tools do not want to be your friend. 11. Go tell the teacher the screwdriver said you're stuck on stupid, and your glue looks like it could use some time in the shop on that bench grinder.

It has to be real acetone and the right kind of styrofoam. I rember melting Styrofoam with hairspray as a kid. My aunt had one of those Styrofoam wig heads, once she sprayed the wig with hairspray, some fell on the head and created little holes, that got the gears in my brain spinning. So when she wasn't around i took the head and used hairspray to turn it into a pretty cool skull (melted the nose and eyes and lips), my aunt however was not amused when i showed her what i had done to the "wig head".

Guess I should have read the comments first. I have spent the past 3 days trying to dissolve styrofoam in water and was wondering what I was doing wrong. I tried several types of styrofoam and adjusting the pressure applied during insertion. Finally, I came to the comments section to find the hidden secret and luckily I got my tape measure and caulk gun applied to a plank of wood. Not sure how I would have accomplished that without this very helpful video!

@@Raphael-2 Yes, however, France is surrounded by many exporters. United States of America has to get their things from a long distance ocean freighter. France also has a president that is a lot more likeable than the American president. Emmanual Macron is also fluent in French and English. This makes him his own diplomat, to an extent. The American president likely only speaks a dialect of English, probably not the correct King's English. That will automatically make President Macron more likeable to foreign exporters, and therefore France more likeable to foreign exporters. The American government also has an extremely bad habit, since about the 1970s, of trying to run other nations more than they run their own nation. This does not look very favourable to other nations. Exporters would likely charge the Americans more than what they charge other nations. Sadly, this puts the American citizens at a horrible disadvantage. They are being punished for poor decisions their government makes. It does not seem as if their votes even work. You would think that they would vote out the universalist politicians in favour of politicians that focus on their nation.

@@indridcold8433 You'd think, but it almost seems like they're being kept ignorant to the problems with constant social pressure to conform to the status quo. That they don't take an interest in civics because they don't believe in the concept, and thus they don't engage and don't change anything. "We were keeping our eye on 1984. When the year came and the prophecy didn't, thoughtful Americans sang softly in praise of themselves. The roots of liberal democracy had held. Wherever else the terror had happened, we, at least, had not been visited by Orwellian nightmares. "But we had forgotten that alongside Orwell's dark vision, there was another - slightly older, slightly less well known, equally chilling: Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. Contrary to common belief even among the educated, Huxley and Orwell did not prophesy the same thing. Orwell warns that we will be overcome by an externally imposed oppression. But in Huxley's vision, no Big Brother is required to deprive people of their autonomy, maturity and history. As he saw it, people will come to love their oppression, to adore the technologies that undo their capacities to think. "What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one. Orwell feared those who would deprive us of information. Huxley feared those who would give us so much that we would be reduced to passivity and egoism. Orwell feared that the truth would be concealed from us. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance. Orwell feared we would become a captive culture. Huxley feared we would become a trivial culture, preoccupied with some equivalent of the feelies, the orgy porgy, and the centrifugal bumblepuppy. As Huxley remarked in Brave New World Revisited, the civil libertarians and rationalists who are ever on the alert to oppose tyranny "failed to take into account man's almost infinite appetite for distractions." In 1984, Orwell added, people are controlled by inflicting pain. In Brave New World, they are controlled by inflicting pleasure. In short, Orwell feared that what we fear will ruin us. Huxley feared that what we desire will ruin us. "This book is about the possibility that Huxley, not Orwell, was right." Thx for the comments I fast forwarded this. Ok- am I understanding that acetone & styrofoam makes E-6000 glue? Acetone breaks down a multitude of fibers into a putty like substance, but I didn’t know it also made adhesive properties. Not the smartest idea gluing tools to a board, I hope that was just to show tensile strength. I liked the file hack, but why didn’t he use the glue that he made? Glue from a glue gun isn’t the strongest bond. He shined the hammer up nicely, although Navel Jelly would’ve bn faster. The belt holes- 2 days ago, I just had to drill holes thru thick material for a costume & couldn’t find my leather hole punch tool, so I used a self-drilling screw; it worked fine. I used a screwdriver after just to make the holes clean. So, I guess learning styrofoam & acetone makes a strong glue wasn’t a complete waste of time. Wear a mask, reinvent styrofoam to glue & help save the planet bc styrofoam can’t be recycled & doesn’t breakdown in the earth. **Although in Germany, we used a special bag for certain recycling & styrofoam was allowed. Idk y it’s not accepted here in the States. (ADHD- now I hv to research it). Happy random video watching. ❤

Right? I thought, why aren't they all made like that? Also, why aren't all screws, hex head, they don't strip as easily as phillips head.

You can also get some large thick flat styrofoam leftovers and put them around the inside of a cooler to keep drinks cold without spending alot of electricity on refigerator and freezer

After I melted all those styro bits, I blew air into the acetone and out came lot of styro sheets. Enough that I insulated my garage.

Painted my workbench with this mixture--well ventilated area-- impervious to most liquids spilled on it. Also easy to clean. Styrofoam is just aerated styrene plastic which returns to styrene when dissolved in acetone or other solvents like MEK. Good way to get rid of all those Omaha steak cartons!

Great idea!!! I wish I hadn't thrown away all that junk styrofoam now that I know that I could have turned it into glue with a large jar of acetone so that I can finally glue my pesky glue gun and tape measure to a thin piece of wood.

That's pretty amazing how the overall level keeps going down as if it's decreasing in volume as you continue adding more styrofoam and I bet that was completely unexpected

I think a lot of the volume is lost as energy through the reaction that’s why the level keeps going down as he adds more

I've tried this one many time but... Acetone doesn’t desolve styrofoam this way, insted of this it creates a slime type material that is not even too much sticky.

You need something like toluene. It does not dissolve in polar solvents. Plus, it is not a particularly good glue. Honestly, this is worse than 5-minute-crafts. I don't believe for a second that hot-glue would hold that brass screwcap and the piece of sandpaper on under actual usage conditions. 🙄
