A Short History of the Queens Pub in Maltby

In the 80's The Queens was split into three separate rooms. The lounge. The tap room, and a snooker hall. The Maltby Mortis 'Hells Angle' biker group operated from the Tap room, and Riley ran the Snooker hall .The lounge was quite snug and welcoming, whilst the tap room appeared rough with old damaged furniture; but generally friendly with a mix of locals and bikers. The snooker hall took advantage of the exponential growth and interest in Snooker in the 80's and was popular in its day. Later, in the early 90's the snooker hall was changed into a functions room for weddings and social events. Then Some would say the Queens was rescued by Wetherspoons and remains well liked and used to thus day. One notable Queens Hotel event was when Sheena Easton performed her hit single ' 9 to 5' outside the Queens Hotel for Radio Sheffield in 1981.
