Gillian, the honest truth is the if you're not getting significant views, you're not gonna be making money anyway. My Back To The Boom Bap channel is in YPP but I'm not getting enough views to earn a payout.

I get what you mean! I started my channel years ago and before I could even be monetized, I created webinars and sold those. It was super successful and I didn’t have to have any requirements or include KZbin to do so.

Fun fact that I’ve been around long enough to remember… used to be ANY new channel could sign up to yt partnership straight away and monetize even with little to no subscribers views etc. So when i started my channel back in the day, made a little money.. but yt did have a policy of not sending checks of any amount below 100 dollars to the creators. So a certain amount had to accumulate before they cut you the money. Which is fine in principle. But if your channel made money very slowly (primarily ad revenue back then) you had to wait a long time to see a dime. Still a fun time though. I admit to liking the old youtube experience more in some ways. 😂😊❤🎉

YT desperately needs a competitor. They’ve gotten insane in what they’ll demonetize or hide. The cuts they take are also simply predatory.

This makes perfect sense. I've made hundreds on ad revenue since getting monetized, but only about $ 15 (minus KZbin's cut) on Super Thanks. KZbin is time consuming enough without creating extra stuff that pays five bucks every two or three months. Thanks for your insights.

And i think you're right, Gillian. If the avg KZbinr struggled to meet the requirements, if viewers are slow to provide super chats or join their memberships, youtube takes a 30% cut of their revenue. Focusing on Alternative monetization methods looks like the better play

Hey, quick question! There's this survey about buying subscribers and watch time for KZbin. Some sites offer cheap stuff that might disappear, others are expensive but guarantee it sticks. If you were trying to get monetized, would you pay $99 for temporary stuff (gotta monetize fast!) or $599 for permanent results?

Thanks for the video! FYI, the Shure MVL lavalier works well with the DJI wireless mic system. Unfortunately, they don't have a white version if you're trying to match clothes like RODE, but the RODE doesn't seem to work as well with the DJI wireless.

I don't know much about the KZbin Partner program... But you definitely answered my questions on my fears of these other monetization avenues.. The other successful KZbinrs selling doing the side hustles seem like they use companies or they take care of everything whether they're selling luggage hunting knives or whatever or vpns it seems like it is just extra money hopefully it is not taking them too much effort and this becomes passive as well.. After KZbin left me hanging in 2016 (I fulfilled the 10,000 view requirements a few weeks before they changed it to the now 1,000 subs/4,000 hours), I made the decision that KZbin Monetization is not worth trying for.

I keep getting the email from YT that I am qualified to apply. However, after clicking on the earn tab from YT studio I get "We'll let you know when you're eligible". I thought I was suppose to get a start button to process the review phase. This is very frustrating. I worked so hard getting 1,338 subs and 6.7K watch hours and now I have problems with the simple apply process.

Yes! Once you reach 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours your channel will become eligible for earning with ads and Premium.

No, once you reach 1,000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours you can start earning with ad revenue. I just think a lot of new creators are going to get distracted by the other monetization strategies!

@@gillianzperkins oh ok, in that case i guess its ok. You could choose to do the 500 sub revenue thing and once you hit 1000 subs you will still get the ad revenue as usual so thats a good incentive. I think i got 250 subs and didnt push it at all for years. Thinking to grow my channel and since I am close to 500 the incentive is now stronger if I know there are some options to earn revenue faster. Not sure Id use it though but better than nothing I guess :) tnx

I think you're probably right. HOWEVER, I think that, with AI-created content emerging, a shift towards community-focussed platforms is necessary and what we want, both as consumers and creators. I think that passive income in general is going to undergo a massive change. What's your opinion?

But people only join if they want, KZbin isn't forcing them. Also, it's not pushing anyone to do anything; people can start selling digital products with 0 subscribers and 0 watch hours, which will evidently happen first... I really don't see the downside here.

hey, sincere thanks for this video. it really helps small creators like me make sense of things. ive been working so hard the last 6 mos to reach the 500 monetization threshold...i finally reached it today ..only to realize it wasn't monetization from adsense/youtube premium revenue....but that other bucket and am feeling very demoralized. I'm going to keep going/aiming for that 1k, but still...demoralized in this moment. But this video helps me make sense of my options
