3:30 As a fun fact, in the web and light novel, it does show that Subaru had a plan when he climbed the tower. He stealthily climbed up the stairs to fight Sirius before she uses her Authority. In the anime Sirius was supposed to be at the top of the Clock Tower with Lusbel, Subaru would use the whip against Sirius, Sirius blocks it but Subaru ties the whip to one of her chains to lure her to him and then ram her to knock her off the Tower so the Authority doesn't get to use it. Yes, Subaru fought. In the end it was all in vain because Sirius used her chains to propel herself and pull Subaru so that he does fall from the Tower and this scene from the anime happens to him.

He comes as a very bittersweet character, his conversation with Puck put salt on his wound and very much into perspective. He is meant to be the hero, the hero is there to do the final blow. But not to stop the villain before they do atrocities. Reinhard may be able to KO a powerful foe,, but that doesn't mean he'll be able to save people.

For those confused about Subaru's plan in the first loop of this episode, the anime cut out Subaru's fight against Sirius. Subaru planned on taking her out himself and he ambushed her by cracking the whip at her face. She blocked it at the last second with her chains, causing the whip to get tangled with her chains. She was confused/stunned by this and Subaru then rammed her off the 60 ft railing. This should have killed her and that's why Subaru felt safe in freeing Lusbel. It's then revealed that she survived which surprised him and then the scene plays out like the anime. It's a dumb plan but considering that he nearly killed her, it's a good feat. The anime just makes Subaru look dumb since even if he freed Lusbel, the people would still die. This was still a great episode though

Remember how Subaru never asked Echidna any questions and just walked away in season 2? Well in the novel he did and Echidna had no knowledge of the outside world so she couldn't help with his Rem problem. Yet in the anime he leaves not asking anything and that's the scene most anime onlys point to to question his intelligence. Whitefox is good but they really make it frustrating.

I was not prepared for how quickly Subaru was getting taken out by Sirius. There's usually a few episodes in between most times Subaru uses RBD. But she was ruthless. Another reason I think Sirius might be Fortuna(aside from the hair and eye color) is Sirius uses fire. If you remember, fire and ice are very connected in this universe. There's just a difference in temperature manipulation. So Puck, even though he uses ice, is a spirit of fire. Just thought that was interesting. Even Reinhard can't save Subaru from the problem at hand. So he had to rely on Beatrice. Emilia tagging along was good and I think Subaru is going to need everyone's help to deal with this. Especially because Regulus showed up. Also, to address your point at the end, I don't think Sirius is talking about Regulus because she talked about her husband having a grave. And Regulus is very much alive. She's almost certainly talking about Petel. Petel saw Emilia as just a vessel for the witch. Sirius hates her for what her group did to Petel. And now Regulus wants to marry her. Emilia is not having a good time with these Archbishops

Honestly the first death of this episode is in my top 10 worst for Subaru, I mean it's not worse than the Rabbits for sure but she basically broke his kneck, then had Subaru and Lusbel's emotions link, then their feeling of fear just started stacking on top of one another until they had heart attacks. In the novel she didn't really harm him physically and it was just the fear that bounced between them.
