Thank you Nick. Yes, Angie is thoroughly steeped in the magic of the motorcycle. I recall replacing a chin link, snapped as we pulled away after a fuel fill, to hear her describing in detail to a small group the function of the Panther's half-compression lever.

Got the badge and bars '76 and 77. In '76 got cheeky and entered my 500cc Yamaha and squire into concourse 😂 got a 3rd in '77 I was the one who got out of the field without helping hands . With the aid of Dunstall megaphones at least the Yam sounded Panther ish

I got few weeks ago crash with wife on m6 while coming back to Scotland from amazing holiday in Italy. My k1600 has been written off and unfortunately my wife don’t want any more motorbike in garage. My sneaky idea to change her mind is to buy 500cc 1935-1939 motorbike to show her something very pretty and slow and hope we get back on the road and travel again on two wheels. Thank you for inspirational video. I think I found my way back to motorbikes.

Every connection we make adds to life's richness, perhaps a little too much in the case of your accident abazdarhon. I have been there. It may take a while to get back but will surely be worth it.

Thanks MrB. Nothing conclusive when I took the lid off. Piston aluminium is the most likely culprit.

This has made my day! I have the fondest memories of my Dad’s 120 and double adult in Greenford Middx in the early ‘60’s. Sitting in my basement in Putnam Valley NY as I write, surrounded by my bikes and missing dear old Dad. All the best and thank you very much.

Great vid, as all yours are. You have a great turn of phrase and I could imagine you reading children’s stories as well as you bend bits of metal. Love the sidecar, keep the vids coming, I find them almost, almost as good as riding myself. Take care from another POC member.

I remember the gentle pattering sound of the exhaust . Inferior models had nothing like my chicken shed sidecar . It took some work to replace all the frame nuts and bolts which had all worn to various dimensions. Metric unified sizes were still a far off dream . Was I the only rider reduced to tears by the starting procedure ?

Wow !.. The POC really knows how to do a rally ! - I'd already heard that Panther owners were very enthusiastic long-distance rallyists but the attendance here is amazing, I've been to rallies of several different owners clubs that I've belonged to over the years but the POC would put most other owners clubs to shame !.. Both the bike and especially the chair are a real credit to you..

Only recently come across your vids but everyone is a little diamond. Born in Sheffield in 1947 bikes and sidecars or sidechairs as they are called here in NewZealand, were really the only affordable mode of personal transport for the working man. Dad bought his first combo in the early fifties ( guessing here) it was a very knackered Norton Model 18 and single seater sidecar. I cant tell you the make of s/chair but I do have a pic of the complete outfit including the riders but do not know how to attach this . You might be able to identify the maker. Living in a terraced house in the East End of Sheffield ( the shitty part) there was no room for a shed to restore the outfit so dad removed the chair after much blowlamp and hammer work and restored the bike in the back pallor. The outfit was used every weekend, weather permitting of coarse to get way from the grime and escape generally to the lovely Peak District. We nearly always went with a group of families all on bikes and mum who would have been in her late thirties said that it was the best time of her life. However it wasnt all sweetness and light as the old Norton seemed to break down every time we went out and we did have a few tows back to our house but in general it got fixed by the side of the road and there was always another biker and a complete stranger who stopped to assist even giving parts and wanting no payment. Brilliant. Dad eventually up graded to a 1953 Ariel Sq 4 (I have a pic) hitched to a 1.5 seater chair. I have often wondered if the Sq 4 is still around. With the Sq 4 being very reliable we ventured further afield even as far as Cornwall and the Lake District. This was pre motorway days so the journey was spread over two days. D & M eventually bough a car, a Morris Minor and as a teenager I rode a James Captain then onto a BSA Road Rocket but had a couple of serious accidents which now on cold and wet days brings pain that reminds me of my bad luck and perhaps lack of riding skills all those years ago. Escaped to the Colonies in 1970 and haven't thrown a leg over a bike since but still hanker too. Regards Peter.
