She repeatedly bullied Shoko because she likes/has a crush on Ishida and he's (since Shoko came into their lives for good or bad) always paid more attention to her. So it's out of Jealousy. The real POS is the Glasses Girl (Whose name escapes me for some reason) because she never faces up to being a bully like Ueno does.
@taepoustouflant
@taepoustouflant 3 жыл бұрын
Her name is Kawai and yes, I completely agree. But for me, the real villain of the story is the teacher. This man was so irresponsible that he blamed a kid for bullying by saying "we all know it's you". IF YOU KNEW THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU DO SOMETHING? And he has the audacity to get angry at them and to blame only Shoya when he knew it was everyone. It pisses me off so much because he's often forgotten when he's literally the start of everything. If he had done something to help Shoko interact with others and to be easy on her, then Ueno wouldn't find Shoko annoying, and the bullying probably wouldn't have started. No, even if it did, he should have done something to stop it, instead of silently watching it until they all destroyed their childhood and life. Sorry for the rant but really... I can't help but get angry at this.

As someone who(regrettably) bullied a girl...when I realized what I did to a person..I couldn't do it anymore...soccer,academics... everything I was known for dropped, I fell apart right up to grade 9 and I was depressed for the better part of highschool...I actually wanted to kill myself because the thought of what I had done haunted me... what if my younger siblings knew that I did such things...what of the teachers I looked up to and respected me? What would they say?...I accidentally watched this movie and I cried all through covered in a blanket..it was like someone stalked me and decided to make a movie out of my life...after the movie...I decided to talk to the "unpopular girl"...to be fair...she wasn't ugly or anything.. people just loved to make fun of her, and I being one of the "cool kids" didn't want to do something out of place so I went along with it..the height was when she actually cried in school..I was stuck asking myself why she cried?why did I make someone else cry just to look cool?.. what was wrong with me?did I deserve to receive praise from anyone for anything again?...after talking to her..she was self conscious at first..and sadly people started making more fun of her because they thought some weird stuff like she was being pathetic to the point i had to cheer her up... eventually she accepted me as a friend...I couldn't believe it..I wanted to connect deeper and better with her..it might've been selfish of me because I was looking for how to heal myself..but I really wanted to know her.. eventually we started dating and there was some backlash about how I was probably playing her and how that was too good for her and not on her level even academically (which was actually false..she was actually smart but she said she wanted to avoid attention by appearing to be dumber)..I just wanted everyone to shut up...so..I changed my main circle (I was a "popular" kid so I had many circles)..and I decided to be with her through it all...I haven't felt much better in my life...I finished college last year... we're still together 😭😭all this happiness because of a fricking anime??..Japan really do be changing lives😭😭

Anime’s a whole different world full of many things and it brings so many cool things into reality. I’m really happy for the both of you. I’m glad that you rose up and made yourself into a much better person with a better mindset and making that girl happy. Really glad for you. 💯 🙏🏼

This movie really got me too. As a kid i used to be pretty popular, but I also had a lot of anger issues, and because of that I used to act really aggressive towards certain things. One day a girl that liked me tried to get closer to me, I didn't realized that She liked me but I got friends with her easy. A lot of my friends started to make jokes about me and her, and that alone made angry, after that I started bulliyng that girl to make the others stop the jokes about me, but after I punched her for the first time and She started to cry was when I realized the shit i was doing. When that happened, She started to punching me for a while and I didn't even tried to protect myself because of the guilt I was feeling at the moment, and after that people at school started to avoid me and I started to blame myself every day. I lost almost all of my friends at the moment, and nowadays I don't have any connection with the few friends I still had at that time. I became introverted and lost all of my social skills. After a time I changed school, and promised myself that even if I can't get friends I would control my angers issues and not do anything similar again, but that school was a mess (just to point, I'm brazzilian, and the public school around here rarely aren't bad) and students were pretty chaotic. My classmates started to bully me real soon because of my introverted personality and after a time I lost control of my self and went in a lot of fights with a lot of people. Long story short, i changed school again, and probably worst then when I entered. After changing school sometimes and doing a lot of shit again, all my guilt turned in hate for myself, and the only reason that i never actually even thought about killing myself was because after all I did I couldn't stand the idea of making my family hurt because i couldn't solve my own problems. In middle school i was luck that i got really nice classmates(all of them are still my friends after some years of graduating) and I tried everyday to help them in anything I could, I guess It was a sort of desire to pay for all the things I did. But after all, the things that I did won't dissapear, and every time someone that I like or admire compliments me for "being a good person/friend" I feel like I'm lying for all that amazing people, making them think that I'm a amazing guy while none of them know all the things I did in the past, and since I lost contact with all the people I bullied or knew when I was a kid, I can't properly apologize to them like Ishida did to Nishimiya. Nowadays I still blame myself to all the things I did, and can't even look in the mirror without wanting to punch myself, but I live each day hoping that all this hate for myself don't block me from becoming a good person some day.

i think thats more for the main character to be sympathetic over time in a manga which is needed compared to a movie and to show a bigger issue and more of a drama and issues around this topic and other povs and show how others felt too but did nothing....it does not effect the themes to focus on that though..the film is about his story more then hers...the manga is more balanced

But after he wakes up, he's standing in front of the mirror, practicing what he's going to say to everybody else. With Shoko, you could excuse it as him not being confident in his sign language. But him practicing just talking means that now he cares about opening up to all his friends, not just Shoko.

I love how this film shows that people change over time. Once a bully isn't always a bully. People change when they hit a certain age and mature. It doesn't excuse what they did but they don't really deserve to continue being treated as a bully if they regret it and have changed their ways. Edit: also I'd recommend violet evergarden as a series for you to watch cause it's so good.

Hi! I am Japanese! First of all, thank you for watching a Japanese movie! I like this movie. After all it is interesting that the way of thinking is different between Japan and foreign countries. What Ishida and Ueno did when they were in elementary school is really wrong. I like Ueno's character. I guess Ueno cares about Ishida and she thinks their happy days were destroyed by Nishimiya. You know, you get angry if someone turned the life of your loved one into hell,right? I think Ueno is short of words. It may be strange because I am using a translator! Isolation, suicidal, and depression is no joke. This movie hit me hard because I was in that phase of depression and Isolation because my youngest cousin took his life. Then I was not doing so well in college, and work was cutting my hours where I lost hope. I ignore all my friends from hangouts. I was pessimistic and wanted to end mines. Then my father died out of nowhere, last year. When I watched it made me reflect to accept life again and see what I'm missing out so much. Whenever you are in that deep tunnel of depression there is always that light that shines your way out. It can be anyone who makes you decide to give life another chance.

This was a very good reaction video 😊 It was also nice to see another rare English dub reaction, as I felt more emotional and connected to the story watching that version, although both the Japanese and English were enjoyable. The story itself I feel is universal, as anyone anywhere in the world can relate to the characters' struggles in some way, shape, or form. I especially thought of a lot of my own experiences while watching the movie; the struggles of dealing with bullying, social anxiety, acceptance, and forgiveness really resonated with me. That message was not lost in either language.
