Looking good Matt, takes a while to work out just what you can do with CNC, but good to see you're on the right path. This machine also ideal for making the caliper support brackets for drum to disk conversions.

I am impressed how well that CNC plasma cutting machine works. Technology has evolved a lot over the last decades. 30 years ago you would have done this on a conventional milling machine - programming a CNC machine would have been to much effort for four pieces.

Nice job. I now know how to divide up circles for adding holes to a PCD. Thanks. My table is the same as yours, bought from Xtreme this year. Do you have the Thermacut machine or Hypertherm? Wouldn’t mind the opportunity to discuss settings with you off line. I’m just finalising a fume extraction system based on a down draft principle so my workshop doesn’t get filled with smoke and fumes every time I cut something.

Nothing compared to hard cornering. Just think of how much strain on the wheels, tyres & hubs when cornering hard at 70mph. Doesn't even compare to what you are suggesting. I may be wrong & maybe someone may have the statistics that can compare the two.

OK here goes an "I know nothing about plasma cutters " question. Is the egg crate style support underneath the workpiece sacrificial? And I don't quite get how you control the depth of cut are you saving the height above the workpiece or actually controlling the length of 'flame/plasma thingy? --- It's only obvious when you know about this stuff. Really enjoy the videos by the way.
@jesscneal
@jesscneal 5 жыл бұрын
Yes the support under is sacrificial. You can change the strength of the cut. Not sure if his is controlled by the software or not. The height off of the material needs to be a set distance which can be set in the CAM software I would imagine.

having made these type of things by hand ( centre punch, pilot hole, finish drill) i know how long it takes to make one, let alone four of them ...in modern terms like here no one would mind paying the man what ever its worth to do this job for them....then you can just carry on with the job at hand... provided ofcourse you didnt make a cock up in your ideas drawing you dropped off at the cutting shop. think 3 times cut once....as my cabinet maker Dad taught me 60 years ago. ha ha ha.
