Not every air show can be a blue angel or thunderbird show. We are spoiled rotten when we have a complaint when we recieve a blessing of anything otherwise . Awesome show and a great video.

Those 80s airshows excited me to join the USAF, but I never got near airplanes -- what an air farce that was! 😂

No matter how many times I’ve seen it, I’m always amazed at how fast the C-5 is able to get airborne, its climb rate and then its landing distance. An amazing aircraft which no other aircraft in US inventory can replicate or replace. We need to build newer bigger versions of the C-5. The C-17 is really cool in as well and is nothing more than a modern overgrown C-130 with turbofan engines. The C-130 is an amazing aircraft with a very long and proven service history. If I had to choose between watching an F-35 demo and an F-16 demo I’d choose the F-16 any day of the week. They seem to be much more agile every time I’ve seen them and most likely have the ability to turn inside the F-35. In a true visual range dogfight I’d give it to the F-16 as well. If I had to choose any of them it would be the P-51, P-38, F-4 because those pilots are actually flying those aircraft.

C130's can be equipt with jet propulsion for quick takeoff it's really cool.
@P-J-W-777Ай бұрын
@@psbergeron03 while they still can be unfortunately they don’t produce JATO anymore. I find it kind of dumb because it allowed them the C-130’s do so much more.

The Airshow C5s are pumped full of helium, up to about 15psi. It makes the plane almost completely weightless. If you have a scanner tuned to the working frequency, you can hear the crews Smurf like voices as they communicate with helium filled lungs. Hilarious!

Boeing attempted a cargo plane competition in the 70s with the twin engine YC-14 up against the Douglas Aircraft YC-15. Douglas won, but many updates and the C-17 is on, late 1980s at Douglas Aircraft Long Beach, California. Boeing acquired McDonnell Douglas in the late 90s. Douglas made both cargo birds for Dover when I was there, the C-133 & the C-124. The C-124 seemed to hover with its size & speed. The C-5 replaced the C-133, C-141 replaced the C-124. The C-17 was meant to replace the C-141s & C-130s. I first was assigned to the C-17 late 1988 bldg #1 at Douglas.
It’s been a while, but every once in a while if you’re lucky, one of those huge planes will come in for a landing and fly right over your car as you’re driving down route 1. It looks like the plane is going to land on you.

I live less than 3 miles from Westover AFRB home of the 439th airlift wing we did have 16 C5 galaxy planes but now down to 8 back in the day 50s 60s 70s Westover was a Sac base loaded with B52s even had a few U2s in their as well as I was told nuclear weapons Westover was a very busy place during the Vietnam and cold wars when they fly in and out I could almost toss a rock and hit them these days things are better with those C5s as they have been repower with quieter engines less than 4 miles the other direction is Barnes AFB home of the 104th fighter wing with the F15E strike eagles soon to be the F35s somedays things get very loud here.

From touchdown to a full stop in 10 seconds. Why don't airliners have those types of brakes?
@robertbraun7155Ай бұрын
Because they don't want to scare the shit out of the passengers!!! Repeat customers are kind of important in the airline industry.

Guv’ment paying for the brakes😂airlines running business.
@TheGospelQuartetParadiseАй бұрын
@@robertbraun7155 Well if they don't start doing something to enhance the safety in the skies [stuff falling off planes] and on runways [repeated runway incursions] there won't be any passengers to scare.

Why are they using pyrotechnics with the c-5 galaxy as it's not a bomber?
@TheGospelQuartetParadiseАй бұрын
You forget that the C5 is a cargo plane with a rear ramp. Were there an immediate need and no bombers were on scene, it would be no problem to load a few bomb-laden pallets and become a non-precision bomber.
@P-J-W-777Ай бұрын
The C-5 has carried and dropped the MOAB!
@TheGospelQuartetParadiseАй бұрын
@@P-J-W-777 So you're saying that the U.S. now has a bomb more powerful than the Tsar Bomba which was the most powerful Non-Nuclear device ever?
@P-J-W-777Ай бұрын
@@TheGospelQuartetParadise When did I ever say that? If the U.S. ever built a bomb larger equal to or larger than Tsar it was kept classified. If they didn’t nits definitely not because they couldn’t but because they determined there was no need. BTW, the Tsar Bomba was definitely a Thermonuclear Bomb. Do a bit of research and watch the video of its detonation. The MOAB and FOAB are actually conventional non-nuclear bombs and is a nickname that both carry.
@TheGospelQuartetParadiseАй бұрын
@@P-J-W-777 The reason I said that is because way back there was an undercover denial that the Tsar Bomba was nuclear though all the evidence pointed otherwise. The U.S. has the capability to make the KOAB [King of all bombs], and I wouldn't be so sure they aren't already in development, considering the capabilities of Russia, Iran, China, and North Korea.
